One of One?

I picked this cool old 1963 409 last week. I have known the car for decades because it was owned by a local man who had purchased it in 1967 from the original owner. The car has had one repaint but is very original aside from the paint including the matching numbers dual quad engine. The car was in numerous magazines 30 to 40 years ago where it was touted as one of one.

What A Cool 63! Thanks For Sharing.

I'm thinking that I was WOWed by this one at the Peotone swap meet decades ago and have film-to-print pix of it somewhere. That is cool

This may be the same car you seen at Peotone. I bought the car from the widow in St Joe Illinois. Jim bought the car in Anchorage Alaska when he was in the military.

Incredible, do you also own that gold ‘62 409hp sedan?

markjohnson 05-20-2025 04:32 AM

I remember Jim B’s ‘63 quite well and my dad still talks about it! Always a favorite and a great color combo! I also remember it having a really slick paint job in the early ‘80’s. Many cars have slick black paint jobs these days but 40 years ago not many Black cars looked as good as this one!

Way cool!!!! Awesome!!!:3gears:

There were 51 63 Impala 4drs (hardtops and sedans) built with the 409/400 engine. It's unknown how many of those were 425 cars and exactly how many of the 51 were sedans.

I used to own an Autumn gold sedan with a 409 horse 409 but don't own it now. See it pop up on marketplace for sale from time to time. I do still own my block 62 bubbletop that I have had for years as well as a number of other cars. If I keep this sedan very long I will pull the engine and of house off and blast and paint the wheel wells and core support.

So that’s where all the bubbletops went!

dykstra 05-20-2025 02:59 PM

What are the rear tires on the '63 BelAir sedan?

66cayne 05-20-2025 04:29 PM

Should be weight in perfect area for more traction .

The four-door was featured in the August '81 issue of Super Chevy. I believe it was sold new in St. Joseph MO. I don't know the name of the dealer. I have pictures of this car from the Super Chevy Show in Indy in '98. I remember seeing a four-door 66 Biscayne with an L72 at Indy once as well.

Pie crust slicks. M/t?

396 SS/RS 05-23-2025 02:07 AM

Really sweet! The cracking lacquer on the fender wells gives it that original character.

mprice 05-23-2025 11:36 AM

Yes I have the magazine from Super Chevy 1981 as well as a few more magazines from the 80s and 90s and yes it was purchased new St Joseph Missouri. The red four door 427 66 Biscayne you seen at Super Chevy I think was owned by Dave Phillips from Ohio if I remember correctly.

RPOLS3 05-23-2025 12:08 PM

Cool car Mick.
