1965 442 Post Coupe - Motor Wheel Spyders + UPDATE

7 Attachment(s)
I posted late last year about my acquisition of a nice set of "14 Motor Wheel Spyders and if they were appropriate for my recently acquired '65 442. After a lot of research and deliberation for a tire choice I finally opted for the Firestone Wide Oval Redline tires. GR70-14. Part #55290. Unlike the Goodyear Polyglas radials that look more like a truck tire, these are a very close look to a true bias ply. Ride quality is as expected excellent compared to the older than dirt Mickey Thompson bias ply's that served well for over three decades.

As a side note I took it to a friend's open house yesterday for his classic car business 45 miles away and the old girl performed perfectly without a hitch. Surprisingly thrifty on gas too. Used roughly 5 gallons on the trip. 3.23 gears and no freeway driving.

Some before and after pics to share. I'm pleased with the look and I highly doubt these is another '65 442 with Spyders on it (I've never seen one with them.)

Thanks to all who responded to my original post. Yenko.net is my go to page and has been for many years. Goes well with my morning coffee!

You said you're not an early riser nor am I but Pasteiner's Saturday is still an option. Baker's in Milford is starting up but that is more of a ride for you (but a much later start.)

----I should just get my sorry ass in gear and rearrange my lazy ass schedule. I'll contact you with enough time to make it happen. Thanks for the jumpstart!!!....Bill S

Those Spyder wheels with the redline tires look great on your 442.

Great choice/looks awesome w/ the B-Pillar, full caps/wires better suited to Hardtops.
:beers:

Took the car to a very large yearly car show on my side of town. Over 800 cars this year. Only one other '65 442 (had a big block Chevy with Oldsmobile script on the valve covers..Boo!) No other vehicles with Spyder's on them. Lot of interest in the window sticker and questions and comments about the wheels.

Nice to be a little different. Don't mind the haze from the Canadian wildfires in the pic. Lame.

Just a gorgeous 442! Our family has the 1965 Olds Vista Cruiser Wagon in the identical color combo. Provincial White with the Red interior, as it was restored to our original 1965 Olds Vista Cruiser wagon that Dad purchased from A.D. Pelunis Oldsmobile in Lakewood, Ohio in the early fall of 1964 to serve as our original ambulance conversion for our Ambulance Service company. if you should ever want to sell your 442 sometime in the future, I will be interested in purchasing it. Sincerely, Don.

Dream Cruise Week 2025 in the books. Kept it simple this year and alternated between the 442 and one of the TR's. The Olds did great. No overheating issues and never above 210 sitting in the heat in traffic. M1 Concourse Friday like each year is a blast. And having a parking pass every Saturday is nice too. Nice friends I have. Worth the drive meeting the guys six days in a row.
