‘66 427/425 Corvette
3 Attachment(s)
Just when you’ve convinced yourself that the last car you bought is the last one you’re going to buy……. Local guy has owned this car forever. He’s moving into a retirement community & can’t keep the car. Real 427/425.

Neat Car, driven 86 miles in 9 years ?!
|
his portfolio just got enlarged
|
32,000 miles - believed original
|
I saw somewhere that the '66 cars were actually 450hp. Were there 425 and 450, or was the information that I saw just wrong?

Great car, Bruce. I'd love to see a pad picture.
Some paperwork shows 450 horse, the 450 horse never showed up on an air cleaner, GM snuffed out the 450 horsepower shortly after it was started and before car production. I have paperwork showing the L72 as 450 horse and even showing the L36 as 400 horse. |
Bergy, original drivetrain? Tags? Nose?
For sale? Looks great |
The car has a SB in it now. Owner has the BB which I looked at, but is buried in the garage. I just brought home the car, BB side pipes, knock offs (repro), and all of the BB engine brackets on this trip. Only thing missing is the carb (darn!) & alternator. Original trans and AZ rear are in it. Car was located in Lititz, PA.
Not for sale now. Gotta get it back to the original configuration & run it around some. |

Congrats Bergy!!

Neat car Bergy! When was the car built? I can keep an eye for a 3247 carb. With the limited pics you provided, it looks like that car can be brought to a WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL!
On another note, if you are looking for a set of the correct 65-66 steel wheels, a friend of mine has a nice clean set. I can turn you on to him. More pics please!! |
----Got to wondering if you also got the hardtop with the car? I'm a midyear Vette hardtop lover! ....Bill S
|
Very nice car, Bruce. Congratulations.

The dealer order forms were printed with the higher horsepower ratings, but they were overridden by new forms shortly after. Management did not want the higher numbers and saw to it that 450 and 400 were snuffed out before production. Dealers kept using the old forms and confusion was created.

i have an original window sticker for my friends 66, and it state the 450HP....very cool, we just cannot find the car ......would love to mary up the car to the window sticker!
CONGRATS Bergy!! |
I have some 450 horse paperwork, I’d love to see the document, especially if it’s an orphan document.
|
----Back in about 1974-75 in Fort Liquerdale I owned a 66 Trophy Blue 66 400 horse a/c, loaded coupe. I Have never run into another paper worked 400HP 66 Corvette. It was also kind of rare as it was ordered with bright blue interior, and I have never seen another in that combo. Sold it to a doctor and about a year later he and his wife moved to the Carolinas somewhere. I've never heard about the car again and would love to!....Bill S

Bill, I have a car like that in my files, but it’s a convertible 400. Are you sure it was a coupe?

Eddie, great document, I’ll search what I can to see if there is any history of the car.
Thank you. |
Bill, you must have a picture of the car and your future wife to post.
|
Congrats Bruce, looks like a great car.
