NCRS Report

What are your opinions on obtaining the NCRS report for my 68' 396 SS/RS?

Per the POP (that I have), this heavy optioned car was purchased new on 11/14/67 from Charles Smith Chevrolet, in Florence SC. I purchased it from the OP in 1986.

It seems to me about the only thing that would be beneficial would be to learn the actual "born on date". What you all thoughts?

Yes, Build Date but also worth having to substantiate your POP also confirm Dealer shipped to info which in some cases is different than Delivering Dealer.
Either way, best added to your Car’s File for all it costs also if things someday change and Reports no longer available, you’ll wish you’d gotten it when you could?

Agree - it ties up the support with other documents - maybe not necessary with the POP, but more paperwork the better - and this is one more confirmation.

I just did one on an emergency basis and it was 100.00 and email confirmation in 1 day. Took a week to get to get the paperwork mailed to my home.

I agree. It ties the POP into a 3rd party validation of the document.

The POP says who the selling dealer was. The NCRS will say who it was shipped to. Might be the same....might not because of dealer trades. Anytime I can get another piecs for the car, I do. I scored MSOs for my Camaros years ago. I'm glad I did.....Joe

I don’t have any written docs on my 67 except The NCRS shipping report. As soon as it came available to us a few years ago I got mine. I suggest you get it.

I see no downside to obtaining it.

More paper = better.

You’ll have to decide if it’s worth the cost. If you hang other documents, I’d say yes.

That's an Internal data processing number, that meant nothing once the vehicle left the assembly line.
There's no options associated with it.
Also shown in Box#10 of the Buildsheet.

Ncrs...

Jumping into this thread with a question...

Do they have info on 1966 full size Chevrolets...??

Local car friend wants to see if he can get details on his 66 Impala SS.

Thanks...

It was a few years ago but, the last I heard NCRS didn't have anything on '66 Full Size Chevys. I hope somebody has found something.

66s

No, nothing on Full Size or Corvairs. Check with Warren L. and see if he has the vin in his database.

The fullsize, corvair and truck records got "lost" somehow when NCRS started this project. They did exist right before it. Someone at the heritage center has been trying to track it down.

mssl72 02-11-2025 03:49 AM

Warren, if I understand what you said, the Full Sized stuff was found?

fsc66 02-11-2025 02:28 PM

Found?

Yeah, that’s what I read but not sure if that’s what was meant …..

TAR6569 02-12-2025 05:12 PM

I edited my comment. The records did exist but they apparently got lost right before the service came available. The St Louis records for fullsize should be somewhere if they were grouped in the with corvettes. I think I heard they filtered them out or something.

Do you have to be an NCRS member to get a shipping document?

I didn't think so but I went to the NCRS site and they said I had to join to get a report. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks for the help.

NCRS info

Just for clarity sake. If you have a corvette, you need to go directly through NCRS to order the data report. https://www.ncrs.org/services/prod/s...=shipping_data Money hungry NCRS forces you to join NCRS in order to then order the NCRS report. Chevy Muscle Docs who in essence is NCRS: https://www.chevymuscledocs.com/. Provides the same information for Chevelle, Nova, Camaro without having to join NCRS

So, best bet if you have a corvette and not a member of NCRS , is to find a friend who is a member and ask them to request the report for you and give them the $50.00

Paul
