Looks good Guy....Joe

Assuming it came with the orange interior. Very cool. Not many of those other than the Z11 and Z10 cars.

duskblue 11-16-2024 08:43 PM

Thanks Joe

I don't believe any Z10 were ordered with orange houndstooth. IIRC

Lynn 11-16-2024 11:56 PM

Did not know that. Although now that you mention it, have seen four Z10 cars and none of them had orange houndstooth.

duskblue 11-17-2024 12:16 AM

Yes it came with the orange interior.

drdave69 11-22-2024 06:17 PM

I had one in the 1990's and should have never sold it. Hugger Orange, Black top, Black stripes and Orange houndstooth interior (coded that way and had ALL original drivetrain).

duskblue 11-23-2024 04:20 PM

My car also came with AM FM blue light

Z28RSHUGGER 02-07-2025 12:27 AM

Nice I also have a 69 hugger orange/white stripes Z28 RS with orange houndstooth interior. You don't see many of them with this color combination.

Very rare. I had a 69 RS/SS orange w/white vinyl top and orange houndstooth interior. I do own two orange RS/Z28. One black vinyl top with black stripes and black houndstooth, the other white stripes with black standard interior.

Welcome to the site and please share some pics and details on your car.

Thanks. I read the story of your car here last night. Great story. My car was purchased new at Flecther Jones Chevrolet in Westminster California. The original owner kept it until he passed away(2019 I think) and his daughter inherited it. I bought it from her. Its 94K mile car with matching number born with drive train. The car was repainted in the mid 80s I believe and stored at that time. I have ever registration card from 1969 to 1985. The 85 sticker was never put on the tag. I have the original California tag and title. I have the original bill of sale, window sticker, and chasse broadcast sheet for the car. Window sticker shows an AM radio but bill of sale says AM/FM so I assume he had it changed at the dealership. He traded in a 1961 T bird for a $100 and paid cash for the balance in 1969. His daughter said he was always proud of the fact he was able to pay cash for this car. I have the thank you card from the original salesman to the owner in a 1969 postdated envelope. I have the anti thief paper that came on the sun visor. Receipts from service back in 1969. The orginal owner kept everything. The car still has all the original sheet metal on it and no rust. Still has the orginal 720 interior.

----Love it! Please just keep that flat hood.....Bill S

Lynn 02-08-2025 09:19 PM

Agree. Keep the flat hood. I love the ducted hood.... on cars that CAME with a ducted hood.

Very cool car. Way too much orange for my taste, but love looking at it. Love mostly original cars.

Z28RSHUGGER 02-09-2025 01:33 PM

Yes, I will be keeping the flat hood. I like original stuff too. I'm getting ready to have the car painted. I bought all new GM NOS bright work to put back on it except the bumpers. I'm getting the originals rechromed. I have the original YH wheels and bias ply tires for the car too. I bought a set of reproduction wheels and radials tires to drive the car. It handles a little better on radials. Thanks for the warm welcome.

If it was me - I'd get a cowl hood and have it striped and painted at the same time, so if and when the mood strikes I'd always have a choice of how I wanted it to look!
I did this when I had my '68 Z and eventually I preferred the cowl look and stayed with it most of the time - but when I sold it it was a good selling point to be able to offer it with the option to have it configured whichever way the buyer wanted - with paint and stripes that obviously matched perfectly..!

Mr.Nickey Nova 03-03-2025 03:10 PM

Sweet Z indeed!! Keep the pics coming. Not too many cars out there where you can purchase from the original owner. Enjoy it...

muscle_collector 03-05-2025 10:14 PM

what a great story and great car. but no way could i paint that car. im sure it looks worse in person than the pictures but god only knows how many restored 69 Z's are out there. (not too mention the tens of thousands of fake ones). how many are like this? very few. BUT its your car and you can do anything you want with it. i sold my superbird and my daytona to the same guy and when he bought them he wanted me to know his intentions and i told him that they were his cars now and if he wanted to set them on fire and burn them to the ground in front of my house im cool with it as long as it doesnt set my property on fire.

bugsy 03-06-2025 02:02 PM

both 69 Zs are great looking cars. I have never seen a orange Z with orange houndstooth interior. I really like that combination. flat hood & no rear spoiler, I really like you don't see alot of those. thanks

Based on Chevrolet option totals, only approximately 525 Coupes were built with the 720 orange houndstooth interior. That means less than 100 were Z/28s. I managed to own two of them, both sold new out of Dale Chevrolet. Still a few here in the Milwaukee area, one an RS.

The first '69 Camaro I owned [top] was an X77 Z/28, N684692. Purchased July 1975, 302 long gone. Not built with the ducted hood.

Next up was another one, this one a JL-8 car. Did not record the VIN unfortunately. Had headers and angle-plug heads. Had 15 x 8s painted white; slight fender flares. Didn't keep it long, leaked everything. Both ended up in IL, never saw either of them again. Probably still around somewhere.

Z28RSHUGGER 03-06-2025 08:54 PM

There is a 69 Z28 RS for sale on Ebay now that is hugger orange/black top and black stripes with a 720 cowl tag but it has black interior. 10E Norwood car.

William is there a break down between plants on 720 interiors?

William 03-06-2025 10:29 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Not to my knowledge.

Despite both yellow [714] and orange [720] being released at the same time, appears that orange was at least somewhat restricted at both plants due to Z11 production. The January 2, 1969, dealer ordering info only lists yellow.

The earliest known orange [coupe] at NOR was built April 18th: earliest yellow interior February 18th.

Only 3 VN coupes with orange interior, all built late June. Earliest yellow interior at VN built February 20. Possible that some VN orders were diverted to NOR due to the 52-day strike.

The info states they were also available with black paint. Seen both; there's a Fathom Green/yellow car from VN.

Z28RSHUGGER 03-06-2025 11:19 PM

Thank You William. MY car is a 05A Van Nuys car. The CBC has a production date of 6/30. So, my car is one of the 3. I have seen one other and it's a SS396 turbo 400 car also a 05A car.

Charley’s LOADED Orange/Orange RS/SS396 with two window stickers that came out of Tacoma, WA. Late Van Nuys car built after the strike. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...lie+RS%2FSS396

Z28RSHUGGER 03-07-2025 12:29 AM

I see that car in the Van Nuys registry on facebook. It's a 05A car too about 500 cars prior to mine in serial number. There was another car over there that said it was a documented L78 car but not listed in the registry.

TimG 03-07-2025 12:39 AM

That is a cool car. I wonder what the story is on the original owner and why he loaded it up so much.

tom406 03-07-2025 01:06 AM

I believe it was a dealer demo and the ordering manager just checked all the boxes.

Jonesy 03-07-2025 02:22 PM

Always liked the Hugger Orange/Orange Houndstooth interior along with Daytona Yellow/Yellow Houndstooth interior cars.

Love to see either one of those interiors with Black exterior paint also.

I believe there was a black 69 Z28 Camaro with a orange interior up here in Canada. I recall they called it the Great Pumpkin. Maybe someone has pictures of it.
