90 Days Til MCACN!

Hey Dykstra's............:beers:

Yeah buddy!! Can’t wait to see everybody!!

Lynn 08-24-2024 03:00 PM

Just made our hotel reservations last night.

BTW, I am picking up some parts from Tony for my 70 LT-1.

If anyone needs some small parts transported from the OKC area (or as part of a relay) I can probably accommodate. We are not taking the Yukon XL, so nothing big. But, I will be bringing home headers and side pipes.
Just driving Sherri's Ioniq. I put a pencil to it, and the extra cost of gas between the two vehicles is about $300!!

Game on.

Funny you mention MCCAN as I was in the basement over the weekend looking at the boxes of parts on the shelf thinking about what we're going to bring to sell.

Kinda thinking they don't run a shuttle to the show ? Is it on a bus line to ride, to avoid the parking cost/hassle ?

Our Official Host Hotels other than the Sonesta are within walking distance of the convention center. The Crowne Plaza, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hilton and Hyatt are literally across the street while the aLoft and the Leows are a few blocks away. The Hyatt and the Hilton are attached via the overhead walkway (or the Habit-trail, as we call it!).

The Sonesta ($129 with $10 daily parking) is a few miles away and they do provide free shuttle service. As for the others...well, you are on your own there.

There are rooms as of today at the Hyatt ($149 and $169), the Leows ($159), the aLoft ($155) and the Sonesta ($129).

I highly recommend using one of the Official Host Hotels, as they provide reduced rate parking, great rates and extra MCACN exclusive perks. They do have cut -off dates that are fast approaching, so book your rooms now!

Attended last year for the first time with our 66 L79 Chevy II and had a great time. Attending this year just as a spectator and cant wait. Only thing I'll miss is the set up portion, Honestly it was the best part for me because we got to see it all come together.

I often say it is like taking a big boxed puzzle and shaking it for five minutes, than slowly but surely placing every piece into the proper place. When I arrive to a pretty much empty building I think, wow...how will we ever fill this? And piece by piece, car by car, it all comes together in an organized chaos kind of way.

We have a really great team, and many of our team members are past (or in several cases present) show participants. Of course, we simply ask for patience and understanding from everyone, as it is quite an undertaking.

For those that are joining us for the very first time to show a vehicle, trust us...the huge fiasco of a mess actually does come together and when you come back after having a nice dinner Friday night and you enter the show floor Saturday morning, you will be blown away by the transformation that takes place before the gates open. Ask those who have shown with us...

And that is my favorite part; standing on those steps Saturday morning before we open and seeing what a great job our team has done to make it happen.

And that transformation can run into the wee hours of Saturday morning to get accomplished too. I doubt many spectators have a CLUE as to how much work goes into having everything ready for them.
