Rare Auction Projects
If anyone in looking for a good project car, there are a few coming up at a local auction. I do not know anything about these cars other than what's shown in the auction ad, but I thought someone here may be interested.

The '67 Camaro and '68 L89 'Vette are at the top of my, imaginary, list. |
the 67 camaro is listed with a 396-350 that they didnt make unless they meant 350 turbo and that would be wrong too. also listed with ac that the big block never had in 67. Better look close

There's certainly not much information on any of the Corvettes. No VIN, pad pictures, chassis pictures, trim tags. There is just nothing to help determine if these cars have any legitimacy or not unless I'm missing a big group of pictures. Big tank cars have lots of unique features, too many to really forge one. Heavy duty brake (J56) cars do also. I have a real J56 '67 big block, and there are many unique features.

That 66 coupe looks to have an L72 intake but also an A/C dash and brackets/hoses for the compressor........I didn't see any pictures of the tach.

----Close scrutiny shows that the car just has power brakes, not J56 (I can see the single pin caliper in one pic). The car is a 390 with AC, PB, Tele, tank, but no PS or PWs. Still a very interesting 66 with good color combo. I thought about for about 15 minutes and decided I'm too old to see the car all the way thru. I do wonder what the bid will be though!....Bill S
----New info just in! This 66 is a 427/425 IP code car that someone was in the process of trying to add a factory AC setup to, and didn't finish it (believe it or not). The IP block is original to the car as is the tank, even though the tank is presently out of the car. The auction claims that there is a warrantee book as well, which if true would answer a lot of questions! |
I don't think I'd get too excited about any of the cars. The tank may be interesting. My understanding is all big tanks were made in 1963 (the tanks, not the cars).
