Was the name of your Reliable driver "Clay" by any chance?

A12pilot 11-14-2023 11:39 AM

Hi Rick,

No, it was Todd Wakeman. He lives in the Ft. Worth area.

They will be dropping it off to me. I'll be breaking it in for Dave, and using it as a truck to haul some of the MCACN awards and of course, the chips and dip.

One of the most unique and rare colors around. My dad bought a Malibu in that color and I attempted to have my SS Chevelle painted that too. It's my favorite color for a '66 anything Chevrolet.
I'll be looking for it there.

McCune 11-15-2023 04:50 AM

Big day today. 17 hours straight. 1055 miles. From Slc to Des Moines, Iowa. Only 5 hours away. Tomorrow we will take it easy.

dykstra 11-15-2023 10:50 AM

Safe travels everybody.

Enjoy the journey, make memories, and take it all in. You’re now going to be a “regular”

Blink, and it will be over. It’s the most Epicable show around!:hmmm::tongue::biggthumpup:

Looking forward to seeing everyone and making new friends. :cool2: The show is more about the people and stories rather than the cars, which is a rare and cherished thing now a days. Blue skies, everyone!

Cheers
Dave

Dave

The show is just one big family reunion. Of the many people I see at the show, this is the one and only time each year that we get to shake hands, hug and share a beer and that to me is what it is all about. The cars are only the catalyst (aka excuse) that bring us all together in that final friendship bond. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. As this will be my last year to show a car, this show will be special and with lots of memories over the last 14 years. Next year I will finally be able to see the show and spend time with friends.

All loaded up and with some pretty good company too. The Rapid Transit Cuda, Challenger convertible, Cobra race car and a couple of others so all in all in good company.

Too Many Projects 11-15-2023 09:12 PM

Damn, one very expensive trailer load right there.

Rick's message is right on the money...the cars are merely an excuse, people are the real reason.

Hope everyone has a great time....safe travels. :beers:

I just saw every car on that Trailer. Dave has a great spot right by the main door. The car looks good.

You guys are killin' me.

After reading these threads I pulled some maps and ran some numbers, and looked at my calendar (and looked at some campgrounds) and - I just can't.

So - you all have fun, have safe travels.

For my input here are a couple shots from the inaugural MCACN, way back in 2009.

Keith might race a Chevelle, but he definitely has 'Tin Indian' DNA in him.

It was great to meet you Saturday morning and chat a bit about your project Dave. I just finished going through my photos and found certain people lurking in the background. It was another awesome show by all parameters.

Wait, don't you live near Detroit ??? Like 4 hours away ??? Why would you need a campground ??? Leave at 5am, get there at 9am opening, stay until 5pm and be home by 9pm. That's 8 hours of drool time and sleep in your own bed that night...:dunno:

Now that's funny! I had two of those, so they hold a special shopping cart, anemic, Members Only spot in my memory. A couple 82 GTs too. Snnniff. .memories!

Was so great finally meeting some members here I've only interacted with by username.

See you next year!

Cheers
Dave

That is the first Indy pace car I remember from my childhood. I still think they look cool. Form over performance was the word of the day. I miss when being chosen as the Indy 500 pace car was a big deal, even the short lived decision for a Dodge Stealth (horror!) to lead the field. Ah well. Nostalgia and days gone by.
