The Quiet One ‘65 427 Galaxie

My favorite AFX Mustang and a Shelby “driver” back in the day.

Tasca is local to me my buddy works there I’ll have to show him some of this pics.

These are a few other cars local to me as well

Wonder why they called that galaxie the quiet one? Did he run it through the full exhaust or something .or was that more about the driver himself. Interesting car name. At first glance I’d have thought it was an AFX not a jr stocker.


So weird to see a arnie beswick car that’s not a Pontiac. . But he did race other makes . Even a D500-1 in 56

I think that was a sales tagline for the full size 65 Fords...."The Quiet Ones".

1st generation Thunderbolt hood wasn’t pretty. I don’t think I’ve seen a surviving example, just pics.

----This could be one of the 11 Holman moody 427 Mustang conversions. Bob Hamilton (original owner of Red Alert) bought the 11th one thru Larsen Ford in New Jersey (I think). The SOHC engines weren't ready yet and were delivered to the race teams at a later date. Bobs was called "Long Gone". Many years later it was restored by Boyd Coddington. Don't know where it is today....Bill S

River Rouge plant 1965, Shelby Econoline and trailer with ‘66 GT350 10 spokes EVERYWHERE, and a ‘64 Lightweight Galaxie taking on a ‘65 Plymouth.

----The Plymouth pictured was sponsored by Leohr Chrysler-Plymouth about a 1/4 mile from my fathers (now by brothers) house at Chippewa Lake Ohio. There were a lot of high perf Chrysler stuff around that area. Makes me wonder why I am so GM-ish! ....Bill S
