Air filter 1969 z early
I have a 1969 z early build 09C 1968 what air filter would be correct square mesh or triangle
When did they stop
That pic looks to me like the diagonal soldered mesh, with square holes. Not the "expanded metal" mesh. Which matches my research. See here:

Those old pics also show a correct BLACK master cylinder too !!
Looks like engine lift brackets painted or natural?
I guess they stopped
One pic also shows the one cad plated horn bolt.
Triangle it is then

Many years ago, the owner sent copies of the paperwork to the CRG. It was delivered to the Chevrolet Zone Office in LA. The confirmation # on the w/s matched the body number on the tag; visible in one of the photos on the Petersen site. No question it is the HRM/SCG/PHR test car. In one of the photos no longer on the site, the hood pad is still in place. Another photo shows the tail pipes were painted black. Built with '68 rear stripe layout.
Hot Rod had some fun with it, chronicled in the January and May 1969 issues. They milled the heads, rebuilt it with headers, steel flywheel, Schiefer clutch and a scatter shield. Added T-bars, comp plus shifter, slicks, 5.38 gears. Ran a best of 12.73/110 before the rear axle blew. Apparently cleaned up and later sold as a demo, according to a stamp on the w/s. Presumedly, all this occurred prior to delivery. The photos show CA Mfg. tags. However, the POP lists a DD of 9/26/68. Based on Chevrolet End of Month records, the car wasn’t yet built. Hmmm… Doubt there were two built with these options. |
I am not too sure if I can see the entire option list but I do not see the chambered exhaust. Where would that be on the list?

Chambered exhaust was not listed on factory documentation because it was standard equipment on L34, L78 and Z/28 until December 4, 1968. Date is from the recall letter sent to owners, not the TSB.
In the May '69 issue of Hot Rod there is a photo of the installation of 5.38 gears. The chambered rear mufflers are seen in the photo. |
