I picked this up about a month ago. I have a broken ankle so I haven't driven it other than around the block, but I look forward to taking it to and fro to work, as well as taking it apart and making it better.

Cool!! Please tell us it has a 428 in it!! :burnout:

442w30 08-27-2023 05:32 AM

Interestingly, the 4-speed was only available with the 428 in 1968.

The GM Heritage Center has a lot of deep info, but anything that would show how many sedans built like this is MIA, among the many pages missing. All I know is 363 Catalinas had a 4-speed, and I assume most of them were hardtops and ragtops.

If you order the PHS it might come with a breakdown.

All of my cars did, I believe.

It's not a GTO, so PHS won't have a breakdown. The Pontiac Library and GM Heritage Center is where all the deep numbers lurk.

AFAIK it's a peg-leg 3.42.

Nice ride! I've got an uncommon Pontiac sitting in my shop too. It's nice to have something a little different!

Congrats Diego! Sorry about the ankle, I feel your pain.
Also, the '62 "slant 4" is a cool bit of history all by itself.
Is that the original paint?
Andy

I agree. I had the engine rebuilt to the higher output specification, simply a compression bump to 10.1:1 and a 4 barrel intake. I also converted it over to EFI for easier starting/better drivability for my mother. She had one as a teenager around 1970/71 and always wanted another one to replace it.

Regarding the paint, there is ample evidence that the car has been repainted at one point in the past. There is overspray on the weatherstripping/paint chipping in the door jams. I would suspect it was repainted in the late 70s/early 80s.

Saw that one for sale. Screaming deal. Very rare.

I heard MCACN will have a display of 61-63 Tempests.
