Gary Rossington

This is a HUGE loss for me. As he was one of my guitar heroes. I knew it was coming, SO many Health/Heart issues. That's it, he was the last founding member. It will never be the same. The end of an era as they say. Dang, I am bummed... D

Yeah, I wasn't aware he was the last either. That came as a surprise. Sad day for sure.

Actually a miracle the man lived as long as he did. I vividly recall where I was in 1977 and the local station was playing their latest hit "That Smell" that Ronnie had written about Gary's lifestyle. After the song they announced their plane had crashed overnight and Ronnie was dead.

I was lucky enough to see the original band in concert a year or so before the plane crash. RIP Gary Rossington

Very sad news. Amazing what he went thru in that airplane crash and survived. Great band and so tragic how many lost their lives. Whiskey Rock and Roller was a favorite of mine. RIP Gary and all members who passed on.

Yeah sad news. I saw Lynard Skynard in the 70's. They opened for the Rolling Stones in Buffalo at Rich Stadium. It was the first time I had ever heard Freebird. I bought the album the next day. RIP Gary

Sad news for sure. Saw them with Santana and Peter Frampton in 1975 in Ypsilanti, MI and again in 1987 at Cobo Hall in Detroit for their 10 year reunion post crash and at Adrian fair grounds in Michigan in 1997. I have pretty much collected all of their music and listen to them all of the time. One of my favorite groups and they have remained really good even through all of the band member changes. My favorite song is “On The Hunt.” They have certainly seen their fair share of tragedy.

What rocker from the 60's and 70's didn't have Free Bird ?? I especially like the live version... "What song is it you want to hear ?"
"I can't hear you......... I still can't hear you".
"I heard THAT then..."

And roadster..wow, what a cool pic. I've never seen that before.

So many under the radar great songs , Every mothers son , Same old blues , I’m a country boy , Four walls of Raiford are a few of my favorites . Videos of songs performed live always sound better .
