Interesting, so a 3.31 posi behind an L34 would have a different designation than CRV ??

MosportGreen66 11-05-2022 02:53 AM

correct, an L-34 would have either a CCF or CCW code.

Interesting...this rear was on Craigslist a few months back for $2995...

Yeah, I looked at my notes of my '70 and it has a CCF 3.31 posi. Looking at Chevellestuff, I see the CRW is the only one designated as "heavy duty". So what is the difference between a CRV and CCF, other than the model it was installed in ?

carnut4life 11-06-2022 05:57 AM

The 454 Chevelle's have bigger yokes than the 396 Chevelle's so there are 4 different codes for 3.31 rear ends in 1970.

Would be interesting to take a wire wheel to the stamping to actually see what else is hiding under that paint.:smirk:

Sorry everyone, since I don't know the seller or the stamping intricacies, I did not know it was a re-stamp. I know the CRV rear ends are sought after for restorers, so that is why I posted it here. Always great to see the knowledge of this group!

Don't let it discourage you from posting other stuff that may be of interest. I'm always willing to look and learn.

I can't see Facebook. How much are they asking?

Jonesy 11-09-2022 07:05 PM

$4000

I can't see what the other one looks like, but here's the stamping from my 70 LS-5. I believe it to be original.
