When I restored Dana Hurt's YS8011 I did a lot of research on this. Don did not like to promote the SS so he often times removed the SS emblems on the fenders and painted the gas cap black. There is more to that story that I am not recalling right now but that is what I found. Dana's cap was painted and his SS emblems had been removed during Yenko's conversion and all was verified during the restoration.

"This Corvette Bronze 68 Yenko Camaro is 124378N472062 and YS-8051. It was sold new at Luby Chevrolet in Miami FL. This car has an M21 with 4.10 gears and was advertised as having 4K original miles. It was restored by Camaro Specialties for Bill Wertheim. It scored 999 points at the American Camaro Association meet in Carlisle in '05 and was featured in the October '08 issue of Musclecar Enthusiast. It was part of Tom Abrams collection and sold for $370K at Mecum Indy in '22."

That car shows well for being restored over twenty years ago. Saw it in person in Indy and looks like I’ll see it again in Kissimmee.

Rick,
When I saw Dana's car that you restored I can say without a doubt that was the nicest Camaro I have ever seen. Dana had the car on a rack and it was just as perfect on the underside as all other parts of the car.

Thank you sir. That is nice to hear once in a while.
