Yenko Chevelle Drag Test - York US 30 Dragway
5 Attachment(s)
This is a great article on a stock Yenko Chevelle put through its paces. Dick Williams a Yenko associate took the first passes with a best time of 13.66 and back that time up multiple time. The evening runs were the fastest with Paul Diesher of Marshall Chevrolet with a 13.31 @ 108.04mph, the best of the day. Paul had double duty because the car was on loan and heading back to Marshall Chevrolet, the selling dealer in Reading, Pa.

The article said the shifter was the stock Muncie type and worked very well. First time I've ever heard that! Thanks for sharing this.

Wonder what a better tire and headers could have done?????

That is a great Yenko article for a number of reasons.
one is , it shows a hard to find original engine photo showing no decal on the air filter lid. This has been debated whether the COPO 427 cars had a 427 decal on the lid or did Yenko add a 427 decal to the air filter lid on some of the Yenko 427 cars. not many original engine photos have been found to help make a correct lid restoration |
These vintage articles are really cool to see and read, thanks Steve

that Yenko chevelle test car is sitting in a garage close to me. Lee Crupi passed away last jan i think. he was a great friend and held numerous record holder times with NHRA. Lee and Ernie Musser raced a 1967 Z28 sponsored by Marshall Chevrolet. AWESOME ARTICLE!!!!!

anyone know what month this article was printed? i figure the year of 1969. thanks

Really cool article, I've had that in my notebook for years. Also notice the muncie shift lever, It's is not the console bent one or the curved bench seat one either. Have seen some restored ones, but nobody has the wright shifter lever.
