Modern Tire Options

I know there have been a couple of older threads on this subject but with more options today I thought I would check to see what most people are using for tires when not wanting to use their correct bias ply setup.
I have a set of rallys I restored that I want to put modern radials on, so I don't have to drive on the GoodYear Wide Tread GT's anymore. I know Coker and Kelsey Tire have some newer options. Are a lot of guys using the BF Goodrich Radial TA's still?
Any help on this?
Thanks!

Here is what Steve did with his black Z FWIW. BFG's are great, but it kind of turns me off when I see them......

I can actually say “Steve made me do it” … tomorrow I’ll post pics of a new addition with these modern radials that look like bias plys. I just got new BFG Radial TAs for my ‘69 Z28 after 10 years on the same set. We also had them on our former ‘70 LT1. Great tire that comes in all sizes but I agree with Tim, boring look!

For a modern radial at a reasonable price I would go with Cooper Cobra Radial GT's if you want white lettered tires. I have them on my '78 Z28 and am very happy with them.

Here are the bias ply looking radials. I had the car out today and it drove great

I put the same on my Dad's 67 Corvette. I'll be doing the same on the 67 I just bought when it arrives....

Thanks for all the replies. I have to say that the Wide Ovals have the period look for a radial. And the price, while still expensive is fairly tolerable. I hadn't noticed just how crazy the prices were getting on the retro tires. If these truly ride like a radial it may be the way for me to go. I don't drive my car much but when I do, it bothers me that the bias ply ride is so crappy, however I am almost getting used to it, lol.
I imagine once I buy a set, they will come out with Wide Tread GT radials!

You have that affliction too ?? Knowing what you want, but it isn't available, until you buy something else ...:frown:

If anyone switching to radials wants to sell their Wide Tread GT's, I'm your guy.

Has anyone tried these? While the tread pattern is ugly I’d be curious how they look on a car and how the ride was…

You got that right about the tread pattern. I think it would make your muscle car look like a lowered 4x4.:thumbsdown:

I saw those and the tread pattern scared me off. I don't understand why they would do that to a retro application tire.

Reminds me of european sports car tread. If they had just left it off the shoulder/sidewall, it might be tolerable, but as is...

Probably easier and cheaper to change a sidewall on a mold than the whole tread pattern. They may have used an existing tire and just changed the sides to "resemble" a classic retro.
