VW Beetle
I had a 1978 Karmann Edition Original Paint Triple White convertible with Factory A/C with 17.8K on it I bought from the second owner. I never knew you cold get A/C on a Bug Convertible. I sold @ Mecum Chicago back in 2015 For $20,000 and I thought that I sold it on the Cheap side, but gone is gone. Go Find another one. Neat car Charley. But It's not a Jolly though. But I'm Just Sayin" Bill

I rode to school in a 56, 36 hp with cloth sunroof a buddy of mine had in the late 70’s. It would only run 50 mph flat out. He loved it when a semi would pass him so he could draft. Then it would run 55+.

----What a cutie! Love this BUGer!....Bill S

My second car was a '59 I bought with the engine disassembled, in the back seat. Yours appears to have a fuel gauge, which mine did not. There was a lever on the "firewall" that you pushed over with your foot for reserve tank, like a motorcycle. Always fun on the freeway when that happened.
Cute car and seems to be highly customized from what I had. |
Very nice oval window 'vert! :worship:
|
That's a beautiful little Bug, congrats Charley. Love the dimmer and wiper stickers, very funny.
|
Had a 59 too,…this is a Beauty
|
Don't know the guy,but between the battery powered cars and this,I dunno.
|
Great car! Never seen skirts on a bug, but they're cool.
|
I'm digging it! You need a Sharknose M6 now to continue this German inflictionation!:beers:
Is this prelude to an upcoming Foreign section to MCACN?:hmmm::biggthumpup: Cheers:beers: Dave |
I love that bug, cool car.
|
I think we can expect a lengthier burnout video with this one!

Congrats Charlie! Nice Bug! My brother has 3 '62s. 1 sedan, 1 convertible and 1 with the sunroof. Fun cars. I drove his 'vert for a little while. I used to have a '63 sedan. I'd love to have it back. I'm hoping for a burnout video too!!

With the car was a list with prices on most of the add on options. Holy smokes.

Those tool kits are pricey! I saw one for sale that wasn't complete. They wanted $1,200.00!
|
I don't suppose we're going to see a driveway burnout video from this bug ;-]
I like these too, but "fortunately" I don't have room for one. Cool bug! |
Achtung!
Der Drizzleflipper. Love it. |

If some of you are pining for interesting car discussions, check out the restorations of Beatles and other models on the Samba: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewforum.php?f=35
There was a super cool thread about a very early Beatle found in another European country that verified as one of the first ones ever made (ie. the ones that were in all the promotions). |
It isn't always about the HP. Don't get me wrong, I still have an issue with pathetic "muscle cars", but I can really appreciate cars built for a particular purpose that don't "pretend" to be muscle cars. I enjoy the heck out of my 65 HP Opel GT 1.1.

Dad's Oval Window

My Dad cleaning the windshield with my Uncle. Just a couple of Dutch-Austrian boys back when dapper mattered. Probably a Nederland sticker on the rear fender. They had it shipped over from Europe. Before my time, but thanks for inspiring me to search for this old photo. Years later, Dad bought a new '70 Astro Blue/Antique White topped Chevelle and my Uncle one-upped him with a sweet Mulsanne Blue '71 Monte Carlo with Corvette Rallys (and people wonder how I got this way). Both gone a long time but never far. Bleib Gesund.

What a timeless photo. Full on suits. Amazing to see it. “When dapper mattered”. Best saying in a long time. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Dave |
