So why is this one SOOOOOO CHEAP?

It is a rebody.
According to Chuck the ONLY part of the auction car that really was part of ZL1 #27 is the vin plate (IIRC).

----Even so,,,that's a huge drop from perceived value! There are a lot of COPO iron block cars for more than that that have sold!.....Bill S

It is a rebody of a rebody. Vin tag is all that came from the car. Chuck rebodied it and then the next guy that bought it from Chucks buyer simply got the vin tag from the body that Chuck put it on and put it on yet another body.

So a Double Rebody COPO ZL1..........

So that probably (hopefully...) makes it 'the only one known to exist'. Think of the marketing possibilities :hmmm:

BUT, what happens if the second rebody in the original yet repaired body that was discarded after the lawsuit??????

Not the only rebodied ZL-1 Camaro out there. Only one that can be safely mentioned is #9 N608879 since it was disclosed as such when auctioned at B-J AZ in 2012. Well, sort of disclosed.

As for the others, do your homework before bidding. Don't want to be caught standing when the music stops.

There is irony in the joke. I have always found it interesting how people "create" the lineage of a vehicle by "re-tooling" the history. I remember something about a Motion vette years ago that wasn't a motion vette but the owner had been written up a couple times in the old school rags (Hot Rod, Car Craft) and that became part of the lineage, and it was in long dispute. Thank God there are people tracking these but as PT Barnum said; "there is an ass for every seat" and there will be someone that is four vodka tonics deep that raises his bidders badge.....
