Awesome car. Although for me, I don't have a car that I don't drive.
Same car? https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...%27s+hemi+cuda What are the chances there are two with under 100 miles? If the same car, how (or why) did the bubble go from black to argent? |
That thing is BAD A$$

Well, he'd have cars in his registry, but it's not every surviving car. I seriously doubt he or anyone has serial numbers with the final produced cars. I imagine brands with invoices, like FoMoCo and possibly PHS for Pontiacs, can determine those kinds of things.

My Brother and I looked at a 43 mile hemi Cuda at Legendary Motor Car many years ago.
I think it was the same car, I remember the story about the original exhaust being put back on the car. I remember there was some touch-up work on the front suspension and a Mopar guru ran the owner of LMC through the mud in a magazine article saying it was all done incorrectly. Ryan W31/VW |
Sometimes there are too many "gurus".

Anyone know how much it sold for?
|
$525,000
|
Well bought or well sold?
|
Id say thats less than half what it was expected to bring.

Fear of the lagging economy scaring people.

Its one thing to buy and sit on a 1M car when interest rates are near 0. ...but at 2.7% cd rates the car now costs over $27,000 a year to own just in interest lost ...
|
Chuck, that might be one way of looking at it. On the other hand right now a 2.7% CD is guaranteed to drop about 6% (or more, depending on what you believe the true inflation number is) annually, or 60k in your example, whereas an investment could return much higher.
Of course it will depend on the specific investment. Sitting on cash right now guarantees you to lose money, unless you have a good opportunity pop up that you can take advantage of. |
The guys I know that dabble in this stuff never look at it like this example. Here in Canada, a 5 yr GIC (gar invest cert) is sitting at 4.6 and expected to go up another .5 to 5.1. Buddies looki g at dropping a unch of cash in there for the time being (land developer and has sold 80 million is property in the last 3 yrs).
He figure the interest will buy his house in Florida and Turk n Caicos. And since he retired this year and only 57, might be in a position to purchase land at a reduced rate. But when it cone to buying something, he just does it and doesn't care about the cost. And friend who passed away was the same way. Just buy and spend dince these guys are making 10s of millions a year, you just buy what they want. Yet someone like myself who is ok financially could look at it that way, but if you can REALLY AFFORD a car like this, dont really see the loss over the enjoyment as you can always make $$$$. But can find a original car like this. I wouldn't be a buy in anything like this as I would want to drive what I buy. |
