Chevrolet Christmas ad on TV
I just caught this ad showing a dusty blue Chevy in barn while watching Sunday night football.
Pretty cool ad showing a 68/69 Impala ?? I need to see it again. |
I don't watch football but a friend sent me a video, it's a '66 Impala SS convert 396.
It's a great ad!! |
Saw it, excellent!
|
Thanks guys.
It is a Very Cool ad with some emotion mixed in. Unfortunately I can relate to the Gentleman in this ad. Life goes on and having a classic car always makes it better. Thank you Chevrolet for this awesome ad! I’m hoping to see it again. Chris. |

I saw it too. Pretty nice ad for sure, and hopefully they do more like it. Kudos to Chevrolet! Definitely a '66.

I was restoring my COPO as my wife battled cancer. She never got to ride in the finished car. The ad was incredible. Loved it
|
Wow. I didn't see that. Very cool.
|
Super cool ad! Thank you for sharing.
|
I only caught the last few seconds of the ad when it was on TV last night....far more meaningful when you see the whole thing. Thanks for the YouTube link, Rob!

Wow, that video slammed right at home. Great job Chevrolet. I always dreamed I could do that for my dad but all he ever owned was a a 67 SS 327 Impala, 72 Galaxy, a Rambler American, a Horizon and a Citation. He gave me the Impala when I turned 16 which I restored and sold several years later. No idea if it is still on the road.

Thanks for sharing. What a great ad!

I love the commercial too. An observation I would like to share. Since the fall here, two Chevy dealers here in my area have 1960's early 1970's cars in the showroom on display, so I asked why? They told me "it gets people to stop by and it works". I then asked how are sales? They said cars "dismal". Trucks we cannot get them. Anything that we can sell we cannot get. The declining traffic in the showrooms along with little inventory has the dealers in a panic along with the talk of the switch to EV that has zero traction outside metro areas, and this factors into the tug of the heartstrings, and again I love the commercial but the motives of the new gM have not changed. |
Love the message in that commercial. Thanks for sharing that guys, and thank you for the link Rob.

Saw it...
Yea, My timing was right and I caught the ad...It's a good one for sure....I'm now the old guy in the ad....I remember the 66 Impala...Pretty cool....

Yup, early 50’s here.
Plus, all my components are still working, just a little slower 🙄 |
Wow, what a commercial! That was awesome and hit home here too.
Merry Christmas friends! Anthony |
Now that's what I call a commercial... Compared to the other crap that is on TV these days... Nice to see... Thanks for posting..

I just went and hugged my '66

Wow, definitely my favorite GM commercial from the last few years.
Haven't watched it before so thanks for sharing. |

Very nice. I always get a bit sentimental around Christmastime (I do some of my best writing this time of year). I think you all know I have my dad's GTO. The sight and smell of that car sure brings back a lot of memories. After I had my own shop I was able to sequester the car away and get it cleaned up, de-tuned and with the right tire/wheels on it. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4.jpg~original http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...s.jpg~original Dad also had this little '63 Lemans. He kicked off a mild restoration (new top, paint, wheels, underhood detail) but sadly never got to ride in it after it was completed. K |
That's a tough watch - in a good way.

Here's the full 4 minute version.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4-o...nnel=Chevrolet My wife and I were both crying when we saw the commercial on TV. We're both 45 and have both lost a parent so it really brought out the emotions. For me especially. My Dad is why I'm a car guy and today would have been his 66th birthday. We both shared a love for these cars and I could not help but think about him while watching this. Still gets me every time I watch it. |
Gosh, that full version brings out all the feels…
|
GHSS,
Thank you so much for that longer version …… WOW. That video tugged a bit. Chris |

What a lot of different emotions. Thanks for posting.

----WOW! Double, maybe even triple misty! We all comment about what GM does both right and wrong, and this is obviously one in the right category. Somebody in the tower was talking our language!......Bill S

That longer version just 'bout ran me over. #I'mNotCryingYouAre

I knew after the short version, I shouldn't watch the long one, but I just had to go and do it.
My heart goes out to you guys who have said you've already gone down this road in your life. I don't ever want to be the one left behind. I don't believe I would survive it. It took 40 years to find my soul mate and I'm still, 30 years later, just as smitten with her as in the beginning. |

Since I feel I'm among friends here, I will share how this commercial speaks to me, and why this car sat in pieces for many years.
Some of you are familiar with my maroon SS convert (Members Rides, MACACN etc). When I brought that car home from NC in September '79 my soon to be wife Karen claimed it as hers. (She was driving a Buick GS 455 4 speed when we met). Every time she left the driveway with it she laid rubber for twenty feet. When I had it totally in pieces she asked "Are you sure you can put it back together?" I responded "If there is one thing in life I can do, it's put a '67 Chevelle together". We visited the painter, the body was in primer and she told me she didn't want to see it again until it was painted. She passed suddenly shortly after. When I got the rolling shell back from paint it sat neglected for almost ten years while I put my life back together, retired and went after my car hobby with a vengeance, albeit with other cars. I also found love again with Jani, whom some of you have met. Fast forward to 2018, it was time to put the maroon convert back together, with a target of MCACN 2019. Bill W |
