Transport Needed SC to TX for a 65 Vette…new car!

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings fellow Yenkonians!:hmmm:

I just sealed a deal on a two top 65 Vette, Nassau Blue, white/white, 300hp 4spd with side pipes! This is a driver car, something to have fun with while I’m back into the BMW 507.

The car is in the Columbia, SC area and I’m looking for shipping ideas before I call Reliable who has always been good but scheduling may be long with them.

I know it’s asked a lot, but any recommendations on smaller guys with enclosed trailers?

Thanks!

Cheers:beers:
Dave

Did you unload that ex fuel car?

njsteve 05-23-2021 09:07 PM

Did you try the guy who moved the purple car for me?

Yes and No. Forgot about him. I'll send a note

Cheers

Sorry for the quick note, I was between planes!

Yeah, Tony. Sold that and got this. It’s more of a fun driver I can play with. I also placed an order for a Factory Five Roadster kit! Should be fun!

Steve, Matt is booked, so I’m exploring other options.

Thanks guys!

Cheers
Dave

My neighbor. He did great for me. True car guy. Takes care of the cars he is transporting as if they were his. Reasonable rates, but this trip would add a bunch of miles. Still may work for you.

Transportation

I’ll drive it to you and you can fly me back on MCACN Air. I do expect First Class seating with a meal and a movie though.

Cheers,
Marty

Hahaha! Thanks Marty! Yes, here at MCACN Air always remember our motto, “We’re not happy until you’re not happy.”:hmmm:

I had to back out of the deal due to a VIN and paperwork issue.:frown: It’s disappointing and he’s contacted GM and The NCRS to try and remedy it. :eek2:

But I did just order a Factory Five Cobra kit!

Thanks for the help, guys.

Cheers:beers:

A guy in the local Chevelle Club bought one of those and assembled it. I'm including a link to his build thread on our forum. There's a lot of fluff and meaningless drivel in the first page, but once John got parts and the body, he made it happen in short order AND he is a perfectionist with a few tips on how to make this fit and look right. He had a guy in OH paint it and these are the ONLY vehicles he does, so he knows how and is good. I saw the roadster in person last weekend and I WISH my '66 Chevelle looked half this nice.

Are you using the kit as the chassis for the 507 project?

A12pilot 05-26-2021 07:06 PM

Excellent! Thanks for the link.

Hey Steve, no, this won’t be used on the 507. The 507’s classic will be a combination of a Mercedes R107 and part custom to mimic the original 507’s chassis.

This will just be a quick thrown together fun-car to enjoy! I’ll be posting up a build thread on it as it approaches delivery.

Cheers
Dave

What do you have in mind for the drivetrain ? That Coyote that John installed is huge in there and plenty easy to get sideways with...:3gears:

After reading the whole thread and looking at what pictures I could see, I'd suggest ceramic coating the headers to keep the heat from overwhelming the driver and passenger. Other than that, I'd say John D did his project quite well.

On the cruise last Saturday, he said the scoop helped a LOT with pushing the hot air out the side vents and with the body permanently mounted and sealed better, the intrusion of hot air from the engine compartment has been reduced significantly. He wasn't looking forward to polishing the discoloration off the sidepipes later that day, but I'm certain he did. He's rather anal, as you may have noticed from the build...:cool2:

Dave, you will love the Cobra. There are some good Cobra sites around including the Texas Cobra Club. I go to the dark side, also with my Kirkham Cobra. I've had four Kirkham built Cobras and the replicas are a blast

A12pilot 05-27-2021 12:19 PM

Thanks guys. I’ll start a new thread on it and answer all the questions soon. We’re starting our move this weekend to the new house and closesness:hmmm: to civilization!

Good chatting with you the other day Tim. Thanks again for the help on the Vette.

Cheers:beers:

Be safe on the move, Dave!

Had good luck w/these guys, Dave, in case you've not a found a lift yet - direct route - no hand-off's - scheduled/delivered to exact date(s), on kinda short notice ...

Truck was cleaner than my car! Congrats on the 'Vette!!

A12pilot 05-27-2021 05:31 PM

Thanks Bruce, and got it Tenney! That Vette had VIN issues so I passed on it, but the contact info is good to have!

Cheers
Dave
