Restoration Recommendations

A Friend of mine asked me to put his 1970 Z28 back to it's stock form. Most of the parts he had stored that came with the car but it had an aftermarket BB stuffed in it and it just wasn't right. As it sits now It's about 92.3% OEM on parts and we may add as I find them for him.
I'm going to take this opportunity and thank a few of the individuals I used during this process. I'm not a business that does this just a oem nut/nerd that dabbles on the side. There are others out there that do the same things but these are a few that I used and was very pleased with the results. Feel free to add others to this thread as well. I just wanted something out there for the backyard guys to have for reference. |

Also, Chuck aka 427King was also very helpful with a few items.
There were others I used locally as well but the previous were the bigger ones that I sent out. I also learned the 70 Camaro is a fun one to find parts for...... |
Any more pics?

(yes working on replacing the lug nuts...) |
Over on Nasty Z28 there is a guy who had the correct raised bowtie center medallions for $100/set that can be used to replace the later version chevrolet switched to. If you find complete NOS correct Centercaps last I checked they were $250 each or more, last time I bought NOS centers they were $600 a set... 10 years ago, here are some photos.
IF the photo of the flat bowtie center doesn't show - here is the direct link - https://photos.app.goo.gl/XwiL9Ty7WTY4SdKY7 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 IF the photo of the NOS raised Bowtie doesn't show - here is the direct link - https://photos.app.goo.gl/7qeaTgKhgBgNKXpq9 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 |

This guy: https://www.ebay.com/sch/14334101/m....88.m1543.l2654 sometimes has correct centers without the emblem, but he doesn't have any listed at the moment. I have NOT purchased any from him, but they look good from his listings. And as afar as the correct lug nuts, good luck! They are rare as hens teeth and go for about 2 grand a set when you find them. https://nastyz28.com/threads/origina...-2#post-190523 They are very close to these: https://www.scottfullerreproductions...29/8316263.htm but sized for 7/16 studs. I have a die designed for re-sizing them, but just haven't had time to pursue it, if anybodies interested. You would have to buy a set of covers from Scott prior to the coining op and then run them through the re-draw die and then coin over standard lug nuts. I figure with the cost of the cores from Scott Fuller at 475 and the tooling and time you would be selling a set for 650 or so and thats if you build to tool yourself at cost. How many folks would be interested at this price point? |

$650 a set is not a bad number considering what a set of NOS ones trade for...
