New Years Dinners...

Just curious what you SYC gourmets are planning to cook for the new year...

New Years Eve we are having herb encrusted veal chops, garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans, popovers and a fine red from the Feldman cellar. Of course soup course will be our New Year's Eve staple...potato leek...along with a nice shrimp cocktail. Still working on dessert :smirk:

New Years Day....Bombay Sapphire Martini...lobster mac and cheese and 3 Advil...

Pork and kraut from the slow cooker over mashed potatoes.

mssl72 12-30-2020 05:31 AM

Planning on a prime rib roast done on my smoker and either crab legs or lobster tail to go with it. Not sure on the veggie yet. Probably have a nice bottle of Chimay reserve (blue label) to drink with dinner.

Haven't really thought about it. I do know if it takes more than 20 minutes to prepare, it ain't happening in my home.

We’re going out to support a restaurant that is hurting

We're doing a small progressive dinner with two other couples that are neighbors. Appetizers two doors down and the main course is at our house, short ribs with pappardelle pasta. My wife is a great cook. We head to the other neighbors for dessert and some bourbon.

Should be fun.

We are heading to a local NJ old school steak house called the Pub. Classic place. http://www.thepubnj.com/history.html

In the south we have to have black-eyed peas and some type of greens like collards, turnips of mustard greens

TimG 12-31-2020 08:46 PM

Frank, the menu for the Pub looks great. I love the relish tray, reminds me of dining out with family in the 60's in Chicago

Blackberry cobbler is my absolute favorite cobbler. For my new years good luck meal it's pork jowl bacon and black eyed peas. Some of us do that down here and others do some type of greens with black eyed peas. A good friend goes for a motorcycle ride on Jan 1 every year. He says whatever you do on the first is what you'll likely do throughout the year..
