I dug out some old photos of that day and took pics of the pics.
OK Corvette experts, chime in. First two pics, What in the world is this GM contraption. Looks to be an FI unit with a blower ? Is that a smart phone in the pocket. LOL. Third pic, Another FI that’s been augmented ? Last two photos, Corvette being judged. Does anyone recognize the guy in the white t-shirt in both photos? He looks familiar. PS, what year did the “Repro” (non factory) Teakwood Wheel originate? Chris. |

That is really cool !
Lee Stewart,
Imagine popping the hood and seeing this. WOW. Thank you for posting that information and photos. How many of these units were built? Chris. |

"Tested on work order April 2 1957"
Perhaps as a response to the supercharged 57 Thunderbirds???? Pretty cool stuff! |
Supposedly it boosted the 283/283 HP up to 360

[Is that David Burroughs?

Great pics and info! Thanks for sharing!

That's a wild piece of equipment!
But if you were going to go to all the trouble and cost to restore it and get it into running condition and into a 1958 (I assume) Corvette, then why would you not use factory (or at least period correct) peripheral items like radiator, hoses, clamps, oil fill cap, etc. etc.??????? Sort of ruins the presentation to see a bunch of online Rock Auto parts stuck under the hood with that rare piece. |

I stumbled onto these old photos today.
This customized ‘65 396 Black on Silver coupe was on display at this ‘75 Bob McDorman show. This Corvette was owned by my buddy (Bob Smith) good friend. Darn I can’t recall the owners name. If anyone reads this and recognizes this Day 2+ Black Custom Vette chime in. Thanks. |
