'65 Corvette Convertible, #s 365hp/4-sp, Mostly Orig Paint, Transistorized Ignition
Cool car with one of the best color combinations in '65. Just love those bright blue interiors....
Paint condition is not the greatest, but looks like it would be a very nice driver. ----This 65 is a gem! The one thing I should mention is that in 1965 both M20 and M21 transmissions were called M20's. The trans choice was made by the factory depending on the gear which in this case is a 4.11 so trans is, in reality, an M21. Love the patina and would do almost nothing but enjoy it and mess with small stuff a bit. The original leather seats are still totally useable as is and an enterprising guy might be able to clean and dye the carpets, but even that isn't a necessity. A couple of brothers from N.J. should campaign this Corvette in original classes.....Bill S

I totally agree with Bill S!!
But..those tires need to go!! Bill W |
----I would throw the "blackwall" tires in the small stuff catagory!......Bill S

I drove a 65 365 Hp about 40 years ago and what a screamer it was. It was the closest thing to my 70 Lt-1 Convertable. Would rev and pull like a big block. I like this one a lot too.

Sharp! Curious that the odometer shows 45149 miles yet the service sticker on the door (appears to be a vintage Marathon Service station sticker) reads the same mileage. The date is tuff to read but IMO is either 5/3/06 or 5/3/66. I dont think this sticker would have been used in 2006.

Saw that too, maybe a disconnected speedometer?

My hometown, Springfield Illinois, which is just south of Bloomington.
I spent many years driving up to the Bloomington Corvette Coral in my various Corvettes back in the mid 70s. Great time! This 65 Corvette on auction is Really cool! Love the factory paint, interior and engine bay. The 365 mechanical lifter vettes are wicked. I would lightly dye the carpet to blend better with the rest of the interior. Possibly throw Goldline tires on it and enjoy as is. Chris. |

I purchased a 365HP 327 out of wrecked Corvette and stuck it in my 1st 1969 Camaro. I swear it could bury my Sun Super tach. I never had another SBC that could rev like that.

Don't they go to 99,999 and start over at 0, like all the other GM's of that era ? Love the all BLUE color...:worship: I saved and enlarged the pic and the date looks like 5/3/76 |

My experience with most C2 Corvettes in the mid 70s was that the odometer was broken between 39,000 and 55,000 miles while the speedometer kept working. Being they were our daily drivers there was little incentive to pull the dash just to fixed the odometer when the speedometer and all the other gauges worked just fine. Of the seven C2 Corvette I had in the mid 70s only one had a working odometer because it had 38,000 miles on it. Me and my first C2 Corvette fall of 1973 with a broken odometer.

Those were the days ^^^^
My hair looked just like that back in the day.
Great photo! Thanks for sharing. Chris. |

Yep, if it didn't touch your shoulders, it wasn't long enough yet. |
----One of the reasons the odometers broke in 63 to 67 Corvettes was people trying to zero out the trip odometer while the car was moving. It would strip a small nylon gear. Not hard to fix, but the whole cluster had to come out and a lot of guys just didn't want to attempt that, me included, although I have probably had 50 or more clusters out over the years for one thing or another!.....Bill S

All good info. I am not disputing that odometers can stop working. My point is that the seller is misleading when he states, .....this possibly could be correct. The current owner knows whether the odometer is working now or not. That is a foul in my book.

Another very similar Corvette... purported to be a 365 hp wearing original paint but the interior has been redone.

It reminds me of the blue/white 1965 365 Horse that Mecum has for sale with 14,000 miles. That one has white leather seats and original knock-off wheels. A sweet car.

Looks like your Split Window is wearing the 68 turbine wheel covers. Chris |
Those are PO2's for '69 and later. 1968 PO1's had a flat center cap.
|
Tim, you are correct. They came off my friends 1969 Corvette roadster as he like the look of rally rims better.

----$47,600 as of today with 3 days left. Anywhere under $50,000 would be a steal as far as I'm concerned. If I had any room at all I'd be bidding......Bill S

$50,100 now. I've got room !! I'll even pick it up and free storage for 2 years, long as I get to "exercise" it now and then on bright summer days... |
Bid to $53,500 the last time around, but didn't meet reserve.
This one has been relisted in the link below, with a $62,500 buy-it-now price. Link to 1965 365hp Corvette Convertible auction |
I spoke to the owner. He gave what I thought was a really accurate description of the car (I had a customer in mind for it).
Until I saw the additional pics........................ Typical Midwest car. I'd have a hard time suggesting the 53.5k to anyone |

Its running again on ebay and for a survivor 365 convert looks pretty nice. What other pictures did you see that turned you off? |
