Wow! I'm tempted. Anybody care to comment on the validity of the window sticker he sent me?

exterior and interior, in case the ad disappears. Should have moon caps & steelies and no spoiler but I'd keep what's there now - looks sharp. Seat material is some kind of custom upholstery shop re-do

It states he has a protecto plate. Did he send you a picture of it? I have never seen a 1970 vanuys camaro window sticker before. But what I see here It looks good to me. Im particularly interested in opinions myself. I have 2 build sheets for my 70 vanuys L78. But no window sticker or protecto plate. Would love to see the plate.

I love it. I'd drive the wheels off of that one.

The protecto plate is barely visible in post #2 bottom right
corner of the picture.

Nice Car, Does it have the Born With drivetrain? Numbers Matching does not mean Original Born With engine. If it is he should post some pictures of the stampings.

And neither is drivers side, but these are very frequently replaced even back in the 70's due to tin worm.

Billohio 12-07-2020 01:14 PM

How do you tell on the drivers fender?

The later fenders have a recess stamping just above where the inner fender bolts to the fender (in engine compartment).Perhaps someone can post a pic of difference.

The Drivers fender will be missing the washer bottle mount tab on the inside under the hood. So the washer bottle will be missing, Also along with the indent on the passenger fender there are numerous holes near the battery cable ground body strap area. Also oem passenger fenders have 2 holes where the indent is to provide mounting for the A/C hose bracket for a A\C car. This car has numerous issues with incorrect and missing original parts. I dont want to bash this car. It does look like a very nice car for the Asking price.

Billohio 12-07-2020 10:45 PM

Thank you. I knew about the indention on the passenger side, now I will watch for the drivers side

Later replacement 1973-74 indented fender

McCune 12-08-2020 12:06 AM

73 and 74 did not use the indented inner fender, they are flat just like the 70.

To clarify, the fenders with the indent starting showing up in parts departments in late 1973
and into 1974 as service replacements for '74s. Correct, I have never seen a 1973 Camaro with an indent fender. But I have seen some 1974s with the area completely cut out. That is what the indent was for on the later replacement fender - a template - for a planned ducting system.

These are both 1974 survivor cars that happen to have the cut-out from factory.

1975 and 1976 Camaro’s ducted the air cleaner intake to this opening. I’ve heard it was emissions related as the air temperature is cooler and more stable there than the engine bay area underhood.

Yes it was originally planned for '74 but didn't happen. But some later 1974s did get the cut-out. Here is a '75

ronzz572 12-08-2020 09:28 PM

If anyone wants to read this, I did extensive research on the 1974 camaro model year and the fender cut out when it started. Here is a link to it on nastyz28 web site. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275968

Charlie's 979 mile 74 Z28 has the flat fender.

Jonesy 12-09-2020 05:04 PM

My 33K all original sheetmetal and 80% original paint 1974 z28 does have the indent.
Its an 03C Norwood built car.

The trim tag says it is a 02C car.

ronzz572 12-12-2020 12:36 PM

I checked on Craigslist link. Its deleted by seller. Anyone buy it? If everything else checked out on that car. I feel it was a good buy on that car. There's been a lot of interest in these 70 L78 camaros recently. Im hoping its going to a good home.
