1967, 1968 or 1969 Camaro SS survivor

Seeing a photo of Grumpy Jenkins’ 1967 Camaro in another thread today stirred up something... the look of that simple no-nonsense ‘67 Camaro SS really means business. Oh to find a solid original 1967 Camaro SS survivor and drop a 427 into it! I had a nice Tahoe Turquoise ‘67 SS/RS with gorgeous patina, but it was too original (with original 350, AC, etc) to take it apart and stuff a 427 into. I posted a Grumpy Jenkins clone on this site many years ago... shoulda jumped on that myself.
I’ve often drooled over this photo of Joel Rosen taking this ‘68 Camaro out for a test drive and lifting the front wheels... amongst traffic! I had a chance to snatch up a look-alike 1968 Camaro SS 396 survivor several years ago, but I zigged when I should have zagged. :-[ I’ve often stared at photos of Joe Oldham (RIP) and his ‘69 Phase III Camaro before it was stolen. That car looks absolutely killer in triple black with a stinger hood, Keystone Klassics and knowing that a 427 lurks beneath the hood. Just thought I’d throw it out there that I’d like to find a 1967, 1968 or 1969 Camaro SS with original paint (I don’t like rust but I do like patina). Something that needs a drivetrain (or already has a 427?) that I could turn some wrenches on. No rush... always looking for the right car that speaks to me. |
Great photos, good luck with the search!

Nice straight Camaro gearheadmex and just the drivetrain too!
Thanks for your post, but I'm set on finding a Camaro that still wears its original factory paint, stripes, etc. Something more like this Camaro SS... |

I have a '69 Z survivor. Scored a high Legend at MCACN a couple of years ago.
Rallye Green, white stripes, flat hood. Great car. Ooops! Sorry, I just noticed you want an SS. |
Nice pic of Steve, Vintage Certification Commander in Chief Extraordinaire, manning the lift!!
Very nice survivor Z!! |
Thank you! I had to get Steve in there somehow ;)

BTW Jim that is a fantastic car! Looks like Mopar guru Frank Badalson was converted to a Chevrolet lover. His smile says it all.... Are you still looking for tires? |
Hey, that's my blue Vette parked next to it!

I think I only need one tire....maybe 2. I have attached the cowl tag and POP for those asking. Otherwise - I have completely hijacked this thread!! Apologies to the OP. |
Jim, no need to apologize.
Thank you for offering up you incredible Z28 survivor. It’s far too nice for what I’m looking for. I basically want a car with good bones (original weathered paint) that I can build with day two and performance parts. I may even add lettering to the car, so your Z is far too nice for that. Good luck finding the right new owner (or tires), if that’s what you plan. |

I came across this clean SoCal Butternut Yellow ‘67 rs survivor available for $24.5k. It’s a little too nice, given that I was going to hot rod it.
Anyone know where a guy could get a Dana style hood? Hmmm... https://slo.craigslist.org/cto/d/ata...239592020.html |
I have this restored 68 with it's original L78. It already has some Day 2 liberties and a very healthy cam! POP and original dealer order form

That’s a gorgeous’68 L78 Camaro Tim. I appreciate you offering it, but I’m expecting it’s over my budget. I’m looking for a car that is somewhat original but weathered in appearance, and rough around the edges. What color is your car? Love that color!

It's Grotto Blue. I'll PM you
