Eddie Van Halen

RIP Eddie!
Loved Van Halen- I remember seeing them open for Black Sabbath in 78 or 79 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia
Good times!- blasting Van Halen in my 69 Pace car with the top down just out of High School

RIP Eddie, the original Van Halen was my favorite band in the prime of my life, Many good memories in my life because of the great Music that came from this Guitarist and his band members, I thank him for it!!

My Memorabilia on the band when I went to the concert, April 1984 with Original Ticket/Program/Michael Anthony Guitar Pick and later in 2007 when they reunited with David again.

So sad to hear; he was such a huge influence on how so many people play the guitar today. RIP and condolences to all his friends and family.

Eddie and Alex carved their name in wet cement outside of a liquor store near their house in Pasadena in 1976 and it's still there.

Super Talented, no doubt about it. BUT...Smoking THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of cigarettes, consuming copious amounts of alcohol and drugs, is JUST not conducive to a long life.
I have a list of friends and rock stars that have ALL died between the age of 60 and 69. I added 5 friends this year alone! One at 60, one at 62, one at 63 and two at 65. During the early 80's when Pablo was supplying the entire US with Cocaine, it was very easy to get involved in the scene. 1984 I was 24. I went to a wedding reception and was offered pure product. I thought for fun I will give it a try. I didn't even really know how to do it. So I watched a couple people and did it. I got the high that EVERYBODY was searching for, some still today. I thought I was having a heart attach. I left right then and went home and sat on my drum set and went crazy for probably 30 or 40 minutes straight. NEVER touched the stuff again. VERY lucky I don't have an addictive personality. You can't raise your heart rate MILLIONS and MILLIONS of extra BEATS. And expect to live a long life. Just doesn't work well for most people... Danny
