'70 Chevelle #s 396/375hp Garage Find, Stored Since '74

This is a pretty significant find...not a lot of L78 cars out there.

I get the whole barn find thing but I think he is doing himself a disservice by not cleaning it up. Cool to find them in this condition but a good cleaning may be worth some $$$ in my opinion.

Original Paint '67 Corvette Coupe, #s 427/390hp

Pretty nice car with a pretty color combo - I think the seller is pretty realistic on the asking price (and there's a best-offer option, too).

Good looking L78 Chevelle....I like the color combo :)

I hope she finds a good home.....and hope someone restores her correctly back to 100% original.

OO of the Chevelle traded in a 59 Vauxhall!

Mr70 09-20-2020 06:18 PM

There were other 1970 L-78 Chevelles that came painted code #55 in my database,so it's not a 1 of 1 in that sense.
It's does have the fabulous 4,so I'll be be bidding at the end if he doesn't prematurely end the auction.

"so I'll be be bidding at the end..."

Good luck, gold with black stripes my favorite on these cars.

It's the right Gold too.
Code #58 Autumn Gold was much prevalent then the lighter code #55 Champagne Gold during 1970.
The car really pops more with it.

I have a gallon of code 55, a gallon of Black and a gallon of Clear all in PPG Lacquer if someone wants to restore correctly. Thanks, Dave.

My guess, car is worth 30,000.00 tops. Going to need another 20,000.00 thousand to restore and replace parts, new paint, fender, back bumper shot, valve covers, engine rebuild, frame shot blasting, new carpet, on and on. Fully restored maybe 60,000-75,000 at Mecum Auction if trying to sell.

Sean 09-28-2020 04:24 PM

I love the car but not at 45k. 30-35k Restore myself in at 50-55k. Not when I just bought a #s matching L78 4 speed for 16k.

Mr70 09-28-2020 04:30 PM

Sold for $51,850.00.
Helluva car that I wish I could've gotten..Congrats to the winner. :burnout:

BLACKLS5 09-28-2020 04:34 PM

More like congrats to the seller. I'm a '70 Chevelle devotee but man that seems like a bunch. I guess they don't exactly grow on trees but wow.

Sean 09-28-2020 04:42 PM

70 seems to be my elusive car to catch. I hopefully find one someday! Good sell for the seller.
