I am looking at this car, what can you tell me about the data plate? It seems funky
|
Los Angeles car. Not much to tell except paint, trim & date....Joe

Looks like an azure turquoise car with black interior.
|
Does anyone know what the F106 on the bottom right is?
|
Van Nuys plant, body scheduling code. Not really relevant to anything important :D

I have received more paperwork and pictures. Always looking for thought on this car.
The car is painted the wrong color currently, suppose to be a real deal 1969 z28 . 1969 z 28, factory original rare endura bumper . this is a cal. car . number matching engine and rear end. trans is a CE factory replacement. have broadcast sheet and pop. one re-paint in 1981. second owner had it from 1982-2016. car is a awesome driver quality rust free car. all original sheet metal, original interior. has some cracks in paint, mainly in the black stripe area. needs trunk gasket, door gaskets are original. dash pad is rolled up by windshield |

and here is picture of the car. It has been a hot rod, wrong hurst shifter after market gauge . mallory coil. wrong exhaust manifolds.
|
That's a transferred warranty plate; no DT codes on it. Pretty much useless.
Block stamps may be ok, need to get the paint stripped off the pad. Also need pics of the carb, alternator, distributor, radiator. Each one would be $1000+ to correct. Rear axle? Those are Corvette wheels w/incorrect tires; aftermarket rear antenna. Figure about $20k to correct the paint, wheels, tires, dash pad. |

So if that is the chassis broadcast sheet for this car, I see several codes listed that would indicate Z/28; Radiator, water pump pulley, alternator, front springs.
|
Pretty sure you got a real z/28
If you show the wheel codes on the bottom of that build sheet, that would really nail it. They are just out of the picture at the bottom. I can see the 55 paint code and it has posi axle. YF front coils are z/28 UH Radiator is Z/28 Rear Springs BM Looking good so far |
Engine UPC G - nails it as a Z28.
|
Thats correct on the engine. Im pretty sure the spoilers and ZL2 hood were added also. This z/28 doesnt have alot of options. No tach, no console or gauges.
Would look great in its original Azure Turquoise paint.:D |
If that is the original engine as stated, like William said, if that pad could be cleaned off for a really good look at the stamps, and verified as real/untampered, that would pretty much put the nail in it for me as a real Z/28, and worth while correcting other stuff if the price is right.

The car is for sale on Craigslist. I feel the price is way too high for how much it needs. Lots of cool stuff, but still needs paint, and a lot of expensive parts to make it right.
here is the link https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/c...195743411.html |
I was back and forth with the owner, but too much money (especially once you exchange into Canuck bucks). Automatic trans radiator, wrong distributor, but correct carb and alternator. Originally a flat hood car. The original interior and panels were quite attractive for me, it's a very clean car. Definitely a Z. Where on the buildsheet would the VE3 be called out? Or would it?
