'69 Orig Garnet Red Paint Z/28, Hit Hard but Fixable (?)
I think a guy with time and skill could repair this one.... Pretty gnarly how tweaked this car currently sits - would be interesting to get it on a rack and measure how screwed up it really is.

Relax, alright? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it. Doc. |

Thanks for the laughs! |
Its has original paint just do some paintless dent repair

Crinkled tail panel. Car is a banana. This car is not for faint of heart. If you have a donor shell and and a body cart or frame straightening rack it's possible. If it had a red 718 interior code on the tag I might have a sleepless night over it. Hope someone can save it.

A guy that knows what he’s doing on a frame straightener could really help this car out!

I went to look at that car prior to being sold to the new owner now.
|
It looks SO much worse in that picture than in the auction! Just wow.
|
They took a direct side shot that's why it doesn't look that bad. I took the pic on an angle to show the actual damage.
|
Surprised the driver wasn’t killed or very badly injured .
is really A bad banana. Bent like the 68 road runner on the roadkill show ... |
Yep, thanks for posting the correct angle photo to get a good idea of the damage - imagine buying it from just those auction photos and then having this show up... subterfuge I think they call it... ;) What were they asking for it then? Just curious. Cheers.
That looks like the A-pillar of a '57 Chevy... |
Parts car.

Also, looks like the caliper is on upside down... and been that way a while...
|
Despite that severe impact damage, amazing that the roof doesn’t look to have bent.
Might be the only undamaged panel remaining  |
Well, someone took the plunge and placed a bid at $12,500
|
That car will never be the same as it once was.Looks like a hard hit

Looks like someone took a torch to the knuckle and/or the control arm to replace that ball joint. Also, that banjo bolt looks like its not sealing the brake hose. |
Looks like it slid sideways into a pole or bridge abutment at a fairly high rate of speed. I seriously doubt the driver could have emerged alive or at least not very seriously injured. Even with side airbags the forces from a side impact like that would probably kill you.

"Original DZ block in the trunk, Original heads" maybe the 69 Camaro trunk is bigger that I thought....
Engine has 68 and earlier heads on it. |

I think that is what you call a T-Bone.
|
maybe it says somewhere & i missed it but when was this wrecked ? looks as though it has a recent aluminum heater core & aftermarket booster ? and pull it apart to find it missing the blower fan blades ?
|
For the record.....subject car VIN 124379N661543
Not sure why the guy keeps harping about original paint on this car  At this point it's pretty irrelevant. |
Dave was that the car that was in Forrest hill md i was supposed to look at it when all the corona started he wanted 20 for it said Jerry certified it
|
I'm sure there's a body man out there that can answer this. I thought when you repaired a wreck you first tried to pull the damage out on a frame rack best you could before cutting damaged parts? The video shows them cutting the A-pillar 1st.

Why cut through the pillar? Why not separate the welds at the cowl and maybe save it?
D80 means it was built with a 'cowl' hood? "Mis-stamped" hidden VIN? Yikes... |
Painful to watch the guy beat the crap out of that A-pillar 'stub' with the sledgehammer. I agree that it ought to have been pulled first.
Seeing the upper dash condition makes it clear just how tweaked this car is. |

I love how he brags about the mint original seats and then tosses the still spinning, mini-bandsaw onto the driver's seat after hacking through the A-pillar. Who the heck uses a bandsaw? A sawzall would have cut through the pillar in 30 seconds.
|
I would think you would want to put that thing on a frame rack and try to pull it back into place at some time. Maybe should have pulled most of it out before hacking it.
|
According to a commenter on that second video: "Car was wrecked when the transmission mechanic took it out for a test drive on a rainy day after alignment of the blow proof bellhousing. I was told he went off road and into a tree. Walked away from accident and still works at the shop. It originally had a flat hood too."
|
Guy filming the videos thinks the car hit the corner of a house because he (supposedly) found scraps of lumber and drywall in the mangle of metal. If a wood frame house did that damage to the car, I want the same guy who built the house to build one for me. Maybe it hit a house after it hit a tree.

Certified it as what...a parts car?
|
You always put in on the rack and pull before cutting anything. And heat with torch when pulling. I am going to guess that they are going to cut and replace parts. There are issues pushed over to the door pillar on the passenger side. If they do not make a pull, they might have a difficult time to get the passenger door fit right. pull on it and get the passenger door to fit perfect before cutting anything. It will be interesting to see what direction they go with it.

Ummm, D80 does not mean the car came with the ducted hood.
So rusty quarters, trunk, floors, fenders? Obviously, he has a different definition of "survivor" than most of us. |
