Spring Carlisle date change

I just got word that the Spring show has been moved back again to June 17-20th. If you have reservations in May, change them before your hotel finds out and raises their rates.

One more rescheduled and we will be calling it Summer Carlisle again. Just a joke for those of us who are old enough to remember from back in the 1980’s. Rob

Verne_Frantz 04-13-2020 08:03 PM

I used to vend at Summer Carlisle. Roasted my nuts off and had very little sales. It was mostly a biker meet.
Spring Carlisle is now one week before the Chevy Nationals (former GM Nats)

That one will probably be cancelled as well. Most states say they are going by fed guidelines and banning large group gatherings rest of the year and PA is super strict to begin with.

I certainly hope they have the swap meet. I have been going to Carlisle/Hershey meets since 1985. Its like mecca to a car enthusiast. ROB

No way I'm taking a chance.....shame though

Verne_Frantz 05-19-2020 12:50 PM

Even if they have it, the risk will still be there because of all the cash deals (money changing hands). Too bad. I've had my truck packed with parts since early March in anticipation of several meets.

I called Carlisle Events today. Still on for June dates. They meet with the state tomorrow to go over their plans. Any changes to their plan, if needed, will be posted Wednesday.

I'm guessing light turnout all things considered.

wvhylander 06-08-2020 08:54 PM

So that begs the question. If your looking for Chevy parts do you attend what is now spring Carlisle or the GM Nationals one week later?

Verne_Frantz 06-08-2020 10:15 PM

The swap meet at the GM Nats is a fraction of the size of the "Spring" event.
No one can predict what it will be like. But one thing is for certain: You don't find treasures if you don't go on a treasure hunt.

cant wait

69L78 06-09-2020 11:09 AM

Cumberland County goes green on Friday the 12th. I did hear the auction was cancelled and there may not be any food vendor's.

Rumbleguts396 06-09-2020 12:08 PM

Going to green Phase it seems still prohibits gatherings Of over 250 people. Very confusing.

Burd 06-09-2020 01:51 PM

Firebird show in late August was just cancelled, Dream Cruise was cancelled, it’s not going to happen. My cars and coffee is the only car event in Michigan this summer. Lol

69sidepipe 06-10-2020 03:08 PM

Talked to Carlisle Events today, show is going on as scheduled next week .

Burd 06-10-2020 07:25 PM

That’s awesome.

That is not correct. There are several shows that will take place at the Packard Proving Grounds in Utica and also several at the Gilmore Museum. The Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race is also still happening. And if you think for a minute that Woodward is not already happening, you need to go out there Friday and Saturday!

And of course, MCACN (in Illinois in November)

Bashton

iluv69s 06-17-2020 12:04 PM

is Carlisle still scheduled? Do you think it will be full of vendors?

RobR 06-17-2020 12:52 PM

Update...just read the PA Department of Health is suing Carlisle Events over the spring show.

I would call first before going out this weekend also for the GM show next week.

Rumbleguts396 06-17-2020 01:18 PM

I was planning on going Thursday. I love this show. Been going since the 1980’s. Fingers crossed. Rob

70 copo 06-18-2020 01:13 PM

Jokingly Carlisle events are already considering changing the name to swap meet and protest so PA will relent and support the swap meet as they do all other mass gatherings.

Its going to be interesting as Bill Miller is saying this far and no farther.

Mr70 06-18-2020 04:28 PM

Anyone from here there today?

SS427 06-18-2020 05:19 PM

"LUIS" Caceres Rivera is there.

69L78 06-18-2020 08:51 PM

I was there, more crowded than Wednesday & unless something changes Friday will have a bigger crowd.

wvhylander 06-18-2020 09:26 PM

FYI Was told you have to buy tickets online no sales on site. I haven't been able to corroborate this, but do know you get a discount if you buy online.

Really ? good to know , Thanks !!!

69L78 06-19-2020 10:06 AM

Another hearing today in Harrisburg at noon.

bergy 06-19-2020 11:34 AM

Thankfully, the show will be over before the judicial system can decide if it's allowed!

GrumpyJeff 06-19-2020 06:45 PM

pretty good crowd today all things considered , quality vendors where pretty scarce and car corral was very, very thin. But still a great day to finally be out and about

Rumbleguts396 06-19-2020 07:47 PM

I attend most shows at Carlisle. Being a 5 hour drive each way for me and not knowing if they were going to be shut down, I decided to sit this one out. Hoping Corvette's at Carlisle in August will be a go!!!! ROB

69L78 06-19-2020 10:06 PM

Carlisle reached an agreement and the lawsuit was dropped, they are not releasing any details yet, but Spring Carlisle continue's Saturday.

Verne_Frantz 06-20-2020 09:32 PM

I was there, and Yes, they won the lawsuit. All the coming events will go on as scheduled. I've never seen a worse forecast for Carlisle, (6 days in a row with 90% chance of thunderstorms!) and I've never seen a worse forecast for anywhere that was all WRONG. 3 great days in a row.

Accurate statement here, if you're looking for replica garage signs, outboard motor parts, junk tools, bicycles and other junk that should be at a flea market, you were in the right place. If you put all the quality vendors in one area, you could see the whole thing in 2 hours. This is getting to be a big waste of time...

69L78 06-22-2020 01:38 PM

If you did not like the spring show, take a look at the new show listing for the Fall meet, they are now allowing boats, motorhomes, etc.

Thanks for that info, maybe my wife and I can set up a booth and sell potholders or salt & pepper shakers or something...

flyingn 06-22-2020 10:22 PM

we went friday and it was pretty crowded. Had a great time.. Weather perfect

GrumpyJeff 06-23-2020 03:56 PM

Being the GM Nationals are this weekend, I’m assuming they will still be having the Solid Lifter Showroom ?

69L78 06-23-2020 04:37 PM

Yes
