If you are on Facebook, join All Chevy Muscle Swap Meet-Buy Sell, there is a perfect 1111467 8B8 distributor for sale there. Compare that one to the one you showed and it will stick out like a sore thumb as to why the one you posted is not as advertised. Maybe that 8B8 will work for you.

That's a restamp and I'm a novice at this.

The distributor numbers are not stamped into the housing, the distributor housing is rolled against a fixture that held the characters, sometimes double imprints or ghosting does occur.

Compare the last 3 numbers of the Facebook “distributor number “ to the one initially posted and you will notice why the 1st one is phony. I don’t like to post the actual font issues as it’s something that I’ve got notification from people before not to do to clue in the stampers.

Another good way to tell a restamped distributor is by the upper housing diameter, it should measure 3.810 where the numbers are and the upper undercut area for cap should measure 3.795 for approx .200 before it gets to the 3.810 diameter. If you put a distributor cap on a restamped hsg it will move on housing if you push it. They have to turn the housing down to eliminate the original numbers before restamping so diameter is smaller than original. Another good trick is to spray the number area with brake cleaner, if it’s been welded up and restamped you will see shiny areas because of the different metallurgy of housing and filler rod used.
