Went to my local Gm dealer-they were slotted only 6 new vettes-30 people are on a wait list-said if I wanted one put a $1,000 deposit and it would be 18 months before I could get one-got to be some dealers with them for stock.
Keep on Cruising!

Cool - thanks for sharing.

So you have to blow apart the rear fascia for the spoiler install?

You're welcome.

Yes, rear fascia has to come off. It mounts to the top of the rear bumper cover. Wasn't too difficult, just took some extra time since it was our first one.

Mr70 03-19-2020 04:58 PM

I really like that color combo. All the cars details show up.

Charley Lillard 03-19-2020 07:48 PM

My pet peeve is the amount of orange peel in the paint. Flagship car for Chevrolet with it's own paint line setup. Spend money on better paint.

A12pilot 03-19-2020 08:39 PM

Jeebus....that’s a helluva lotta car for the bazookas.

Cheers
Dave

JRSully 03-19-2020 10:56 PM

That drives me nuts as well, why is there still orange peel in 2020.?

Lynn 03-20-2020 12:04 AM

As good as the red car looks, I really like these in the lighter colors.

mockingbird812 03-20-2020 12:47 AM

Handsome! Light Grey and Red cars look very different!!!:Can-I-Have-It:

Bill Rose 03-20-2020 12:57 AM

I read recently that GM built a new multi-million dollar paint dept for the new Vettes. I would assume they got the orange peel out of the new paint.

dykstra 03-20-2020 01:34 AM

Sweet! Thanks for posting!

enio45 03-20-2020 01:46 AM

love it - gotta have one for sure!

Look at the photos of the grey one and you can see it. I also looked at some on display in a glass room at Barrett-Jackson and they had it also. One would think you would put extra effort into a show car:dunno:

I don't think it's the paint but the process. It's impossible to get perfect paint on a mass production car. Cars like Ferrari and Lambos can have someone color sand the paint if there's any imperfection or orange peel because they don't have hundreds of them coming down the line every day.

fwiw, the paint is much better than it used to be. It improved when they built the new paint shop a couple of years ago. Orange peel is still there but it has been reduced.

Mr70 03-20-2020 04:54 PM

From 2018..

m22mike 03-20-2020 05:30 PM

My 2017 GMC Terrain , black with light metalic has extremly nice paint and very minor peel. Many GM production cars in resent years look way better than most C6 and C7 Vettes I see. Just my observation.

They are a peeling. :)

TomP 03-21-2020 09:45 PM

So the sixty grand is just a suggested starting point. What are people actually paying for them?

the427king 03-21-2020 10:40 PM

80k to 130k on ebay...nice sub 60k car.LOL

JRSully 03-21-2020 11:23 PM

Wait a year or 2

1. Cheaper
2. Bugs (and there will be bugs) worked out

New Tahoe comes out in a few months, will be the same deal. I had a 2015 Tahoe (first year of new model) and that thing had more bugs than an old apple on the road

the427king 03-22-2020 12:02 AM

Yes but its worth an extra 50K to have one a week before the guy up the street.....LOL

JRSully 03-22-2020 01:56 PM

True True, bragging rights cost $$. IF they do eventually get down to that $60-70k # there will be a ton of them sold, that is for sure

Here you go... minor market adjustment.

JRSully 03-22-2020 08:13 PM

"Sell Em Cheap Price', $98,202", lol

Zedder 03-22-2020 10:51 PM

I pulled my deposit a few months ago when GM announced reduced allocations for 2020. I think there will be plenty to go around this time next year. Someone posted on Corvette forum that a screw from the fender chips the front edge of the door if the door is opened all of the way. Now that woulda pissed me off!

JRSully 03-23-2020 08:22 PM

There will be bugs....

There's Already a C8 Corvette for Rent on Turo

Quote:

The specific C8 in question is painted Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic with the 3LT equipment package and, more importantly, the Z51 performance package. That means it'll do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and absolutely rip around a race track, though obviously we'd never advocate for anyone to abuse another person's car. Besides a set of Vossen Wheels and a ceramic paint coat, the C8 is unmodified. The interior is white and black, with the GT2 seats. Based on Chevy's configurator, a C8 with this equipment costs over $78,000.

To filter out any hooligans, the car is only available if you are over 25. For drivers under 30, supplementary insurance and a $750 refundable security deposit is required. You can knock $250 off that deposit if you give them your personal insurance information. If none of that is a dealbreaker, the car is available starting March 23 and is located in Miramar, Florida. Rates change depending on the day, but it's easy to find availability for $299 per day.

njsteve 03-24-2020 12:31 PM

Who, in their right mind, does this Turo stuff with their new car...or any high dollar car for that matter?

Am I showing my "oldman-fulness" again?

markinnaples 03-24-2020 01:27 PM

I guess anything can be made into a business these days. I know this is from the Turo site, but still thought it was interesting:

We've had very few people order a base model. Like 2 out of the 14 orders we have are 1LT cars and one of those ordered Z51 so his car is $67k. The first 2 we got it in both had MSRPs of around $85k and that's what we sold them for. No dealer markup.

Not on all of them. Apparently on some of the early vins though. Neither of ours had this issue.

Interesting that the Red Corvette has a matching body colored rear spoiler, while the Gray car gets black.
