Looking for 1969-72 K5 Blazer or Jimmy 4x4 driver
1 Attachment(s)
Hello guys and gals, I’m looking for a decent Chevy K5 Blazer or GMC Jimmy 4x4 in original driver condition. I plan to keep it at our cabin and use it for light-duty work, and to take the family touring on local forestry roads. When I’m not using it, I’ll keep it tucked away in a warm dry garage. I would prefer a running / driving truck... “ideally” wearing its original paint, minimal rust and plenty of patina. I will probably add a winch at some point (to help pull our dock out of the water every fall... cuz I’m gettin older), so a Warn winch bumper would be a plus.
I sure would appreciate you all keeping your eyes peeled if one happens to cross your path. I’m hoping to get as good a truck as I can find for a price in the mid-teens. No particular hurry, but spring is coming. Here’s what I picture in my own mind... appreciate any leads. Thanks! |

In order to keep this post current, I’ll point out some that I’ve seen but passed on.
This one has been on the wrong end of a spray bomb... including the inside of the glove box!. Who knows what’s hiding underneath? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F324004924683 |

I hope the "mid-teens" is Canadian money. In real money ;) what you are describing is mid 20's in the Southern USA. It's hard to find any first gen or early second gen Blazers or Jimmys around here with good rocker boxes. Here is one for 14k. It's the only one on a regional CL search. It's pretty rough. https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/c...032450370.html From what I've seen, clapped out rust buckets and builders are 5-10k+. I do know where an original owner unrestored decent driver is but the guy won't sell and his sons are standing in line for it. |
Judging from that Ebay ad I have my exchange rate conversion backwards.

Hey southernfriedcj, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. For some reason I cannot pull up the seller’s phone number. I get an error pop-up every time I click on his contact info? Can anyone else access the phone number?
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/c...032450370.html And I was talking about spending mid-teens in US$. |

A little out of your price range but Hemmings Motor News has a 72 Hugger orange K5 Blazer with 12000 miles for a mere 200K.

not to hijack the post but I remember in the late 1970 I would buy them for winter transportation & pay around $800.00 for good ones over the years I must of had 12 of them should have kept them who new !!

That was a decent Blazer with very little rust. Thanks
|
Damn...must of been a good deal, ad is only 2 days old.
If I stumble on another one I'll let you know. |
I drove by one on the way home from the airport the other day, but I think it’s the next year up. I’m taking a car out for a spin today and will see what year it is and post up details!
Cheers:beers: Dave |
That Blazer I saw was an 84 K5. Decent shape, even had a factory marking still on the frame! But not what you’re looking for.
Cheers Dave |

I like the '73 in San Diego. I'm gonna have to get rid of one of my Unimogs and get another old Blazer or Jimmy. |

D’oh! I found the most amazing Blazer that I could imagine and, as I was bidding, the listing was terminated... sold :(

theres a thread here about those. what was it up to when it ended?

I understand this Blazer sold for high thirties. Considering today’s strong market for K5’s and the uniqueness of this rig, I think that it was a good buy.
Wow, a 1972 K5 Blazer 4x4 with original motor and equipped with Cheyenne equipment, tilt wheel, A/C, the Highlander package, original Feathers Edition with very little rust and unrestored condition.... over my “budget” but had my name all over it! |

Hey guys and gals, I found myself a 1972 K5 Blazer!
Exactly what I was looking for. A nice solid unit... even wearing original factory paint! Who knew?? Looking forward to getting some decent wheels on, and giving it a thorough cleaning. Then... hit the dirt! Thanks for all your help, eh. |
Congrats!

Deal’s done and it’s on its way to an interim destination in Denver until I can arrange transportation up to the Montana border where I’ll pick it up.

Very nice Helmut!

I finally got ‘er home and put some decent wheels on with the original caps. I hadn’t seen the truck in person, but I was fortunate to have my cousin look this truck over for me and text me some photos. Well, I’m very pleased to say that this truck has had nothing but pleasant surprises. I was told by the seller (the original owner’s son in law) that he found the owner’s manual shortly before the truck was shipped. What a surprise to find the owner’s manual plastic sleeve was packed full of the warranty booklet and 45 years of receipts!
The truck is far more solid than I expected. |
Team green!!!
