Wow! That is pretty cool. Will you be restoring it back to its racing days heritage? Very cool find. Congratulations!

HawkX66 11-20-2019 04:38 PM

What an awesome find. The property where you found it looks pretty amazing too. I'd love to see you put it back to the 1970 pic version. It looks like it went through a couple of styling changes since then. Great project. Good luck! I'll be following...

m22mike 11-20-2019 04:41 PM

Neat find, keep us posted..

1967Z28 11-20-2019 05:31 PM

That car is seriously cool. I love it. Nice score and way to be persistent. That is a car adventure you and your buddies will never forget.

WILDCAT_65 11-20-2019 05:45 PM

Thanks for the nice words ya'll.

Yes! Was that car adventure of the year! Nothing beats finding some old rusty stuff!
Most of u will agree ;)

I'm still searching for more old information about it's racing days. I want to preserve it, an it's history....

The Camaro was sitting there for 30+ years by the way. And was last registered 1977!
50k miles on it.

mockingbird812 11-20-2019 06:31 PM

Congrats Wildcat and welcome! Can't see yr pix yet here at work. Will check them out tonite. Where are you living in DE?

GearheadSS 11-20-2019 06:32 PM

Wow, that's cool! I love the stance on that car.

442w30 11-20-2019 07:31 PM

Was this initially a European import?

cook_dw 11-20-2019 11:05 PM

Amazing find and congrats. Make sure you make it over to http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php and learn and enjoy that 1st gen.

Bob Martin 11-21-2019 03:22 AM

Congratulations on your new car. Your car is the only other one I've seen gold with parchment ( white ) interior besides mine.

Kurt S 11-21-2019 03:33 AM

What's up with the six lug wheels? On the original axle?
What's the tank on the left side of the radiator?
Congrats!

Judging by the chamfer on the center hole it looks like the wheels were originally 6 pin knock-offs.

dykstra 11-22-2019 12:37 AM

Congrats!!

WILDCAT_65 11-22-2019 07:45 AM

Hi Sam. From Augsburg/Bavaria. It is I think partner town of Dayton since 64.

I is a U.S. spec car, with mp/h speedo.

Cool! I think that is a very nice combo!

The lillte tank, is a vacuum tank. The car is supposed to have a very wild cam. The friend of the last owner said that car could rev like crazy, and was north of 400hp. Sounded more like a Kawasaki Z 1000 to him than a typical american V8. ;)
Can't confirm this. I'm still spraying WD40 in the cylinders, before the first turn by hand.

The wheels are magnesium, and came from a Lola T70 race car.

JoeC 11-22-2019 10:53 AM

Congratulations on your nice Camaro find

looks like it still has the original Muncie shifter

I'm surprised that was not changed out

WILDCAT_65 11-22-2019 04:30 PM

Yes it is the Muncie. There's alot original to that car, which is really kinda amazing!

That shifter....wow!

You ought to run the chevymuscledocs.com dealer confirmation on this car.

WILDCAT_65 12-10-2019 02:53 PM

Hi, thanks, that sounds like a good idea. Haven't heard of this yet!

1967Z28 12-12-2019 03:33 AM

It would be nice the see the trim tag on the firewall. Is it still there?

TomP 12-14-2019 06:37 AM

Very cool find! The overgrown property looks like it may hide other treasures.
The wheels are very interesting, and how they got Lola wheels to fit the car.

Charley Lillard 12-14-2019 02:42 PM

Those are great pics. Would love to know the history on the owner and the house etc. Cool stuff.

drce500 12-14-2019 04:29 PM

i was stationed in bavaria 1971-1972 with the army at wuertzburg.a lot of the servicemen left their u.s. cars there when they left for other duty stations, some like vietnam you couldnt take your car with you.i remember a 63-67 corvette left by an an officer when he shipped to nam,it was picked clean and in the junk yard of our army base auto shop.u.s. car parts were worth a premium there.

WILDCAT_65 12-21-2019 06:31 AM

Yes, there's other stuff in there! ;) He was a racer. But more european cars.
I am in the progress to find out more of the earlier owners. Talked to an old guy, who is the son of an Army Commandant who was stationed here in the 50's, who told me stories from his buddy, who had it before in the late 60's early 70's and that he did hillclimb races with it.

Here's the cowl tag.

JoeC 12-21-2019 10:03 AM

did you get the NCRS Shipping Data Report ?

the original dealership info may show an overseas purchase or lead to some original owner history

WILDCAT_65 12-23-2019 06:28 AM

Do u mean this?
https://www.chevymuscledocs.com

JoeC 12-23-2019 05:01 PM

yes , its $50 but finding the original selling dealer may help to find more info on the car

I saved the 70/71 mag article somewhere online a few years back w/ Brit' RAC Saloon Racing Camaro Peter Reinhart of Germany had bought from Penske, looks like a '67 w/ '68 updates but article info/names may offer some help backtracking your car?
Here's a few other European Camaro pics too, don't recall where I saved them either but some appear to be 67's w/ '68 updates also the Blue#33 w/ '68 grille looks like it may be the mag article car w/ sponsor changes and blackened Minilites?:hmmm:
Best of luck w/ your research and Merry Christmas!
:beers:

Yes good old 302 Z-28 engines. Killer motors.

Awesome is right, thanks for sharing!
Love to know why the Yenko decal on the back of the 'Vette, pic appears to be from the 1972 Spa race w/ German driver Peter Hoffmann and Belgium's Ivo Grauls?:hmmm:

JoeC 01-04-2020 12:33 PM

they may have been buying parts from Yenko

WILDCAT_65 01-07-2020 08:08 AM

I can ask Peter. He is now 80 years old. I want to visit him in the spring.
I will post more old pics soon! Cheers
