Can someone tell me about this four speed that was taken out of a Yenko 40 yrs ago?
P9H09B 19839361 See picture..
I think you mean 19B39361X
You are missing a number and the 8 is not the one missing... the 8 represents a B or is a B for Baltimore. 1 represents Chevrolet Motor division 9 Represents the YEAR the next digit is an ALPHA character for the assembly plant then the serial number is the remaining 6... Check the VIN and report back. |
That is all there is on the pad. Upside down from each other. I have a picture on my phone of it if I can text it to someone that can post here from there phone..Tks
How about
P 4-sp Muncie 9- 1969 H-June 09- Ninth Day B- M-21 19839361- Service replacement ??????? |
I was hoping the vin was on the pad to see if this car was known. It was a DY car.
Yenko what?
Would likely be a Chevelle since it is stamped with a Baltimore B code.
It came out of a 69 DY Yenko Camaro around 1985.
From the CRG site
P is for 4-sp Muncie 9- is for 1969 H- is for month of June 09-is for the Ninth Day B- is for M-21 I don't know what the numbers stand for...19839361- Service replacement ??????? |

VIN was stamped near the date and would start with 19N or 19L for a camaro depending on the plant
Actually a photo of al the stampings would help clear this up.
If that is a partial VIN with 19B39361 stamped on there it isnt from a Camaro. So it would be nice to see the stampings to confirm. |

Sorry for the delay.

Hmmmm. Interesting....
Didn't stamped Corvette vin numbers leave out the plant code on things like transmissions?
vins
Corvette has the S in the stamping for St Louis assembly plant

Wade; I could not wait to get the car home to see the vin number on the trans as I knew it was out of a Yenko. I thought it was going to be easy, but I guess not! Someone knows what it is, we just need for that person to see it here..
Does anyone have a picture of where the stamp would be on top of the trans case, if in fact they stamped one there?
the Vin IS Chevelle from Baltimore, the 8 was used many times as a B. the assembly date is early June 1969 and the vin fits perfectly at 06C. I do have one vin that matches other than the last number, i'll send a message to the person I have listed as the owner and see if their chevelle was a four speed and if they have the original one. thanks for posting the pic. Andy
looked up the chevelle i mentioned it is an auto trans, after blowing up the image it looks like there is a faint 6 at the end of the vin. I added it in case that is the vin and any info comes up in the future. take care |
Yep, I would agree thats a Baltimore Chevelle stamping and definately not a Camaro VIN. Maybe the trans was replaced at one time with this one.
Maybe its a yenko or copo Chevelle vin

Vin stamp
If it is a Chevelle vin, is it missing a digit? Or am I missing something?
Thanks, Marty |
Maybe it is a Chevelle vin..

Here is a photo of the Yenko Camaro original poster states transmission came out of.
Thanks, Marty |
Yenko's and COPO's went through Muncie transmissions on a regular basis, especially when raced. Pic looks like X66 trim.
Wouldn't that be X44 trim?
If those are original 1/4 panel gills/spears then not X44.
So it wouldn't be X66 either? Probably X11? If I understand it right, X66 is SS 396 without chrome trim, and this would have been a COPO car, which would have been X11 or X44, but in this case probably X11?
I thought X-66 cars had the chrome 1/4 panel gills/spears?
Correct, all SS Camaros received the quarter panel gills. Unless I am mistaken, X66 did not receive chrome around wheel wells, bright drip rails, etc. The quarter panel gills are the reason X55 was used for small block SS Camaros, I believe. Otherwise, they could have been built as X44's.
OK, thanks. I wasn't aware that the SS got the gills no matter what. But this car would have been a COPO wouldn't it? Not a SS? Or is someone saying that this car may not actually be a COPO, but a SS with Yenko stripes added?
This car was a Yenko, the picture was taken in 1978 and he had had it for a while trying to decide what to do with it. It was in ruff condition and he wanted a show car. When he saw my Camaro at a car show he made a deal and bought it and took the M/T and all the emblems from the Yenko and put on the 69 that I had.

X66 trim has the 1/4 panel spears.
"As can be seen from the table above, the X11 code always includes the first four features: the use of black body sill paint and the use of the trim moldings (rear quarter louver, driprail, and wheel opening). The difference between X11 and X55 is that X55 does not apply the driprail and wheel opening moldings. From this table, we can deduce that the wheel opening stripes, headlamp bezels, and taillamp lenses were not a factor in the X-codes. The table also show that the addition of Z22 (which eliminates the bright taillamp and headlamp trim, since the Rally Sport lamps are different) has the same effect on the X-codes as Z21. Going back to the X22, X33, X66, and X77 codes, their meanings are now clear. X22 and X33 codes have the same meaning as the related X11 code, but with an added blacked-out tailpan for X22, and with an added Z28 stripe for X33. The X66 code has the same meaning as X55, but with a blacked-out tailpan. The X77 code has the same meaning as X44, but with a Z28 stripe. Including these meanings in a table covering most of the major trim features for all of the X-codes, and adding in the related Z10 & Z11 codes, we get the following result:" copied from CRG site. |
I'm sorry, but I'm not understanding why this car would be a X66. If it's a '69 Yenko then wouldn't it be a COPO? And if it's a COPO, then wouldn't it be a X44 or X11? What am I missing that would make this car a X66? Most of the people on this sight know more about these cars than I do, so I'm trying to learn from you.
Some of the early Yenko’s were X66 Camaros.
OK, so converted cars, not COPO.
X codes are 1969 Model year.
