Is that a JD COPO? If so, certainly a neat car:)

Xplantdad 08-02-2019 11:01 PM

COPO 9561...Cool!!

Stefano 08-03-2019 05:22 PM

Yes, It's one of the 25 Jack Douglass * direct ordered Double COPO Camaros.

dykstra 08-05-2019 03:00 PM

That is way cool!!

COPO140 08-05-2019 07:57 PM

Is this a new find Steve?

Stefano 08-09-2019 12:53 AM

Some of the Chicago guys knew about the car and it's heritage, but the long term owner kept to him self about the car. I don't believe that I have ever seen it discussed prior.

Stefano 08-12-2019 11:38 PM

The prior owner, kept the car in good running condition. I had to put some air in the tires, but we were able to drive it into the trailer. It is original paint, top and interior minus a few items which were removed for racing plus a few items added for racing.

We are thinking about showing it at MCACN as a Day II Barn Find / Hidden Gem just as it prowled the streets of Chicago back in the day, that is if Mr. Ashton extends an invitation?

how bout some pics!!!

COPO140 08-13-2019 03:44 PM

So, the big question, did it have the stripes?

Stefano 08-14-2019 01:22 AM

This Douglas* was sold with No Stripes and no badges per original owner request.

Thanks. Kool story and history. The original owner was allowed to pick a new car for his High School graduation gift. He worked at a speed shop after school and over the summers and was aware of the Yenkos Jack Douglass was selling. So off he went to get his 427 Yenko. He didn’t want stripes or badges and there was only two Camaros in progress , a hugger orange one which had emblems installed and this one with no stripes or badges yet installed. The tunnel ram and headers were installed Day II and the car has remained very much the way it was from 1969 until today.

Yenko Camaro for a high school graduation gift....how wild is that???? Unreal.

big gear head 12-01-2019 03:14 AM

I wish someone had been with the car when I looked at it. There are some questions I would like to ask about the TR and the carburetors. I never saw it with the hood up.

Stefano 12-01-2019 03:31 AM

The owner was only there on Saturday and then busy checking out other cars and talking to Eddie Martin for a while. I can try and answer your questions?

big gear head 12-01-2019 04:57 AM

I just wanted to see which TR was on the car, and ask some tuning questions. I'm pretty sure that the carbs were 1850-1s with Ford part numbers, but wanted to see them too, and how much clearance there was when opening and closing the hood.

markinnaples 12-01-2019 01:19 PM

That is, in my humble opinion, one of the coolest 1969 Camaros ever. BB is a personal favorite of mine, and with the perfect wheel and tire set, plus the TR, it's on another level.

Stefano 12-02-2019 02:35 AM

Thanks, but this one is Fathom Green.

markinnaples 12-02-2019 02:47 PM

Wow, definitely didn't see FG in that color Stefano. Either way, that thing is just killer.

Stefano 12-02-2019 08:05 PM

The Speed Shop was Lake Shore Auto Parts and the owner/managers name was Irv. Anyone remember them?
