Mr70 07-27-2019 08:00 PM

It's so long, during initial assembly they had to hinge it's frame to accommodate the corners..LOL

Billohio 07-27-2019 10:13 PM

Friend of mine saw it in Wyoming and said the ground shakes when it goes by. He said it was awesome

Mr70 07-27-2019 10:24 PM

Video we shot yesterday, and yes the ground did shake.

Articulated locomotive usually means a steam locomotive with one or more engine units which can move relative to the main frame. This is done to allow a longer locomotive to negotiate tighter curves.

SIgned "FOAMER" Jim

Foamer, generally a derogatory term used by professional railroad employees who see railfans along the side of the tracks adjusting the focus and shutter speed on their cameras while taking trackside photos,,,,,,all the while wishing they worked on the very subject they capture on film.

Most Bodac ious!!!!!!!

TimG 08-01-2019 07:28 PM

How do the tracks support the weight of that thing?

Mr70 08-01-2019 08:45 PM

I can only imagine it's no different in overall weight to say a weekly freight train running by here, albeit not as long or as many cars to equal that weight.
Those tracks it's on are used daily/weekly here,so they must have thought ahead & surveyed this route months or years ago and had crews fixing any problem areas to prepare for this journey as well.

John Brown 08-01-2019 09:56 PM

More wheels equals less weight per wheel. I didn't go to colledge for nothing..... :headbang:
