Ribbed Heater Hose Search

Any opinion on who sells the closest to original reproduction 5/8 & 3/4 ribbed heater hose? Those that I've seen on the market seem to have the correct rib patterns; however, do not have the smooth hose surface like the originals. Rather the surface appears to have a woven pattern as the result of the underlaying mesh fabric that's evidently used for strength.

Hose Review

In my opinion, the 5/8" from Dr.Rebuild is as dead-nuts to original as I've seen. It's smooth without the tell-tale sign of the underlying cord pattern. Although my year doesn't have the repeated printed GM, the quality is excellent. It's machined applied, not rubber-stamped ink. Untraceable when removed with rag and lacquer thinner. The Fusick is also dead-nuts smooth without the cord pattern. The only drawback with the Fusick is the rib pattern. As you can see in the pic, there are four same width ribs not the three as most accept as original.

Dr.Rebuild 5/8" GM print. I'm not that familiar with the font that was used, so those that are, please comment.

For comparison, original hoses on a '67 396 Chevelle.

So is the 5/8 Doc rebuild hose ribbed and has the GM script?

I know that you have a very original 67 Corvette, does it still have an original 5/8 heater hose? If so, can you please post a pic of it? I am looking for a smooth 5/8 hose with ribs that is close to original as possible. I have seen originals with the GM block marking without ribs or a ribbed hose without any markings. Thanks in advance.

Maybe your typo? But the 5/8 hose has no ribs.

I can't guarantee that the Vette's heater hoses are original but they satisfy the NCRS purists. The 3/4 hose is a dead match but the 5/8 hose is very slightly different than the Chevelle hose and varies slightly from the NCRS judging guide specs in the spacing. Splitting hairs here. - Bill W

I'm thinking maybe PaceCar Jeff ink stamps hoses??

----Yes, Bill, you are correct and I remember the font being way more correct than the one example above. Not sure what hose he uses, but he might stamp what someone sends him.....Bill S

Bill, thank you for your reply. I have seen original 5/8 hoses with no ribs that have the GM block stampings on them or have seen ribbed 5/8 hoses with no GM block markings on them. It seems like no one offers a smooth ribbed 5/8 hose that is close to original. The markings what is being offered today is also not correct and I will look into what Pacecar Jeff can do with them.

I ordered the heater hose kit from PaceCar Jeff last night for my 69 Z. If y'all need pics I can sure post them when the kit comes in. Let me know.

If it's not too much trouble, a pic of the 5/8 hose would be great. Thank you!

No trouble at all. Lots of info provided on this site has helped me tremendously thru the past 15 or so years.

Hoses came in today, these are the 5/8th hose. The 3/4 is identical. Let me know if you need more.

I think it looks nice, however I am not sure if it will work for my application (67 Corvette) I have a line on a smooth non ribbed hose with the correct GM block font so I think that I am set. I would have preferred a ribbed hose but so far I have not seen any that will work.

For reference purposes here is an original 1970 hose pattern. Why, you may ask, is it not being used right now in my engine compartment ?? Because somehow in the past I went ahead and cut the hose in two in order to splice in one of those radiator flush tees ! Yeah, live and burn...
