By the shape of the bottom, it's more like a 70 or later.

Probably a Z-28.

Agreed, later style build probably early '70s Z28. '65-'66 L78/L72 (Z16 Chevelle too) air cleaners had flat bottoms. Snorkels were mounted differently. If you post a picture of the way the snorkel attaches to the body, that would confirm things. Love the quickie swap meet paint job!

Looks very similar to a 1970-73 Z/28 air cleaner but doesn't match exactly...

Look like 73-75 Corvette to me.

It's 70 Z28 but someone gave it some extra love taps in the back to clear a hei distributor.

That one on eBay is a repop. The originals had flat lids (no ridge) in the air filter area. They also had the forming wrinkles in the dizzy area.

The one in this thread is an original 70-72 Z assembly.

Also, the one on eBay doesn't have the clearance for the Holley float adjustment screws. It wouldn't even bolt on a Holley equipped car.

The ebay air cleaner doesn't have the clearance bumps needed for the Holley needle and seats. Close, but no cookie.

70-72 Z28's had Holleys. 73, 74 and 75 Z28's and Corvettes had q-jets.

Looks like a 1970–1972 Z28 air cleaner with the original chrome lid but painted black. Has the notches for a Holley carburetor.

Not something you stumble over every day. A very lucky find!

The one on ebay does not look like a large 14x3 Z/28 air cleaner. I don't think it's a repop. Looks more like a early-70s vette air cleaner that uses the smaller 10-11" filter element.
