I remember watching the show mainly to see the "Monkey Mobile"
RIP Peter |

He is again making music with Davy Jones and the "big guy" upstairs...
RIP Rich |
The first manufactured boy band - and still The Best! Rip Mr. Tork
p.s. Dean Jeffries was an artist. George Barris was a bondo and glass troweler who worshipped at the altar of ugly. Big difference. |
always remember the Monkees episode where they beat the hell out of THE original Shelby Daytona Coupe, unreal

Monkeemobile vs. Cobra Daytona Coupe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6NjR8PsrlM Clip of The Monkees from 1968's "Head" movie. This is them-just them- playing Circle Sky live as a "power trio" of Peter on bass, Mike on guitar, Mickey on drums-plus Davy on tambourine:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqE8WTwkMXg |
The Monkees mobile was built from Major Nelsons GTO.

It's possible, but I actually think that's in the Griffith Park area. In the first part where the cars are coming up the road towards you, you can see what appears to be the 134 Freeway in the background with cars running on it. That's probably the Burbank area near Disney Studios. The starting lines shots were on a back lot. I'm not sure which one but Universal and Warner Brothers are right up the street from there too. Cool video. I wonder if the Daytona Coupe was the one that Phil Specter owned?

Wife is actually going to see "Dolenz and Nesmith" this Friday night here in town. They kept cancelling, but they are giving it a go this week

Thats Mt Hollywood dr a now closed rd that you used to access from Griffith park drive.
We are able to Get the road opened for filming as it gives you a view of the Hollywood sign at the top |
