WOW!! '68 RS/SS L89 Convertible with POP
No $hit - is this a real car? Sold @ Palmetto Chevy in Conway, SC. POP looks ok to me....
Wow. I'm going to be thinking about this one.... Link to 1968 Camaro L89 Convertible auction https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/vRQAA...kD/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/yUgAA...XI/s-l1600.jpg |
Like you said Tony... wow!
Good luck to ya if you pursue it. |
He blacks out the last two digits of the vin on the NCRS letter, dash vin and the protecto plate but forgot the vin punched holes in the warrant booklet. :-)
|
Is that the orig eng pictured or not.?
|
I don't think he indicates anywhere that he has the born with engine for it. Just a picture of one on a skid....or did I miss something....Joe
|
Temptation is great with this one.
|
I see nothing in description about ANY of the original drivetrain. Ex-Race Car? Kinda surprised a car this rare hasn't surfaced or been discussed before now. The seller's eBay "handle" and amount of transactions is a little puzzling, too.....
|
That dash pad :dunno:

Look at the location of car. I’m not saying there is a link (Buddy) but it would definitely need to be inspected.

Last digit's actually a 6 = 124678N416006 :beers: ~ Pete . |
Dang, you are right. It looked like a 5. Now I see it. :ooo:
|
I’m assuming the original engine is long gone but it doesn’t bother me.
I’m throwing a bid on it. |

Seller canceled my bid and ended the auction.
|
:hmmm: :D
|
this seller sells many cars on ebay, and has other ebay names. nhra** I do not remember his other names. but caution would be advised.
|
Yes!! Thought it was the same guy, and googled the phone number, and literally dozens of ads popped up in the search results.
|
I had heard about this car... never seen photos, however knew there was a Gold MT coded 68 convert in the south, I had confirmation on the warranty book with the pin punched vin. My recollection was the car was in the western AL area, west of Demopolis near Eutaw but Mississippi might as well be western AL.
|
Now being flipped for $90k....

Same seller, different eBay name.........Same pictures, same location, same unique font in the ads and even most of the same context in the ad.
|
68 l89...
I don't understand the engine picture of what looks like a real L89 motor...how does that relate to this car?? It isn't mentioned in the description...??
If you were going to spend all the $$$ for a high horse custom engine and 5 spd, why not just put the correct style drive line back in the car..?? -wilma |
Relisted for $99,000 in the link below:

No wonder the price went up. He added those sweet Mastercraft tires.
|
The Mastercraft tires seem to find their way on cars right before they are sold....
This one has been relisted in the link below - same price. Link to 1968 Camaro L89 Convertible auction |
It's back in the link below, now sporting an interesting wheel choice of Centerlines up front, and rallys out back. Just a nice set of period TTs and Goodyear bias plies would do wonders for the visual appeal.

Says the only 68 L89 Convertible known to exist...
I am pretty sure there is a documented Cordovan Maroon with white interior 68 Camaro L89 with IIRC 2.73 gears which was purchased new in NC somewhere near Raleigh? |
|
Interesting car, no proof it's an L89 though?
|
Pretty sure it had a protectoplate with the correct L89 engine suffix code.
|
Oh badass. Guy says he's including an L89 engine, I'm surprised nobody has try to make a deal and shift this car back to being more original.

Seems like there are enough experts and collectors that it's suprising none of them have made a run at this car. I speculate the owner is part of the reason.
|
Relisted again for $90k. If it gets any cheaper I may make a run at it, awesome car.

Feels like you should follow up. Hopefully some guys on here can help verify the car with/for you.

There are plenty of people that would make a deal with the devil if there was profit to be made on a car . So that tells me its not the owner, but the car. L89 real convert for 89K OBO, please.....you can't even buy a z28 driver for that anymore |
This guy is only about 45 min from me. He always has something interesting to sell.
