Nice car. Too bad the 396 is gone. I don't understand why so many people cut the floor like that to install these shifters. I've had a ram rod and 2 super shifters in my Camaro and I didn't cut that long slot for the shift rods. Looks like the 3-4 shift lever is installed upside down on the transmission.

Hope the speed parts stay on the car, rather then striping to make the car more original for profit. |
I really like that car. Comparing pictures 1 and 2 shows a lot of work went into making it look good while still looking bad.

The car is staying the way it is. Getting cleaned up and some stuff that needs to be fixed or replaced and then driving the wheels off of it!

Would love to see this one in person, Really cool car

What the heck... Bucks County ?? How did I never find that one? What town was it in? Anyone know?
Cool Car !! |
I had heard of an original owner 68 L-78 nearby for years, but never confirmed the story and do not ever remember ever seeing the car from my childhood.
Late last year at a local cruise night there was an old vette, maybe 59?, that was basically a racecar. Had huge tires, full cage, Big block. Neat car for the street I thought. My freind introduced me to the owner and my friend knows that I am a camaro guy, mentioned that the owner of the vette also owned a 68 Big block camaro. Turns out it's that 68 L-78 Camaro that i always heard about.. He bought it new in Morrisville, Pa. As he put it, he chose the 'Purple color with L-78 option'. He raced it a locally on the street years ago. He said he changed a few things from original. mentioned it has aluminum heads. Said he still has it in his garage along with original paint along with some other cars, but he has not had it on the road in many years. He told me to call him in the Spring if I wanted to stop by and see it. When I saw the post about Bucks County, I thought it must be the same car..... but there are a few still out there !!! |
