New Years Eve Menu...

I am pretty sure that some of you SYC gear heads also spend time in the kitchen when you are not tuning big blocks...so I thought I would share our New Years Eve Menu.

Homemade potato leek soup [a tradition with us]...secret is the applewood smoked bacon I use for the flavoring. Served with a splash of cognac and dollop of creme fraiche.

Then a nice shrimp cocktail...with spicy cocktail sauce w/ fresh horseradish.

Main course will be a pappardelle pasta with creamy lobster sauce...fresh tarragon and basil for the accent. Nice crusty bread and a special red from the Feldman cellars.

After a little rest period we will have chocolate souffles with fresh whipped cream.

Of course champagne will be flowing and maybe a nice bourbon to help round out the evening.

If you are driving thru Hudson, stop by for a snack :beers:

Happy New Year :flag:

Those all sound Awesome!! Yep... the creative outlet goes to the kitchen here too :beers:

This year I'm preparing Chicken Paprikash, which is a Hungarian dish I grew up with. Basically, it's a Slovic version of chicken and dumplings. Sautee' chicken with onions until it's fork tender all the while, sprinkling with paprika, salt, and pepper. Set the chicken aside along with the onions. Use the juices leftover and add sour cream, water, more spices, and stir over heat to create a decadent creamy sauce. In a separate pot, make the dumplings. Dumplings go down first, add the chicken on top, drizzle with parikah sauce, then top with onions.

This year, I'm going to change the recipe a little and do the onions separately. They'll be carmelized instead! A pic to follow....:eek2:

Cheers and Happy New Year guys! :beers:

Dave

Chicken Dish..

We had a Hungarian uncle [he was married to my mom's sister]...he loved that stuff. I think he could eat the whole pot if my aunt didn't stop him. Still remember the smell of it cooking in her kitchen. Thanks for posting this...brought back some memories of the old days.

I'm going to cook some steaks in my "big green egg" and top it off with a couple PBR's and hit the sack by 10:30.
Leave the new years celebrations to the amateurs!

Little smokies with a special sauce, cheese, chips, crackers, punch and soda. Maybe some summer sausage. We'll watch a couple of movies and stay up until twelve just to bring in the new year together.
