Late 69 dated components

Trying to track down a few items for my car (09D 1969 Camaro) and notice a lack of parts dated July-Sept. of 69. I've read that the 499 dizzy was last produced with an April date....what about things like 163 intakes, 837 alternators, 291 heads, exhaust manifolds, starters, etc. Was there a gap in production at some of these manufacturers due to the 1969 design carryover into mid-November? Any insight appreciated!

What exactly are you working on? Some of the components you've listed are small block while others are big block. I might be able to give you some info from my 08E 69 Camaro SS396....Joe

Latest 1111499 DISTRIBUTOR I've seen was dated 9D28.

427 COPO. Which items did I list that are small block?

WorkinProgress 12-26-2018 10:13 PM

There are two '291 head castings. The small block is 3917291 and a big block 3964291.

Not sure if your COPO engine would use the 3964291 or 3919840.

Did not know that there was a small block 291 head....another day learning something! Several other COPOs from late September that I've seen or are known to be doc'd originals all had 291's. Mine has 840's on it now...March and May dates I think.

Sbc 291 head is from 67, not ever on a 69 Camaro as it left the line. It should have been obvious that you were seeking bb heads. Your title and post made it clear what you were after, imo.

All the numbers indicated were not that clear to me as they might've been for others so I ask what he was working on to try to help as I have a late 69. His title did not say anything about a COPO nor did it directly say big block. I'm sorry if you've all taken sport in what I was asking so I've removed the information I provided. Please continue this post without my assistance....Joe

Late 69 dated componenets

My brother Joe has an 09D dated X22 L78 RG Camaro from late 1969 with 6,000 original miles on it. I knew the original owners (2 brothers) that purchased it from Ed Stinn Chevrolet for street use & some drag racing. I know the second owner (who owned it from 1977-1998) who used it for street use only. My brother Joe is the third owner. The original motor has E 6 9 3919840 cylinder head castings. I'll have to check on the distributor date. I hope this helps. Don.

That is helpful info Don, thank you.

Het Jim, ill check all the dates on my COPO, its 09E 8,300 miles original survivor. I do know it has 291's (june dates) I think most of the parts you mentioned are original to the car. ill get back with you on the dates in a few days. Nuge
