Finally.............my new shop
Recently, my wife and I have started a new chapter (adventure). I sold my parts business and semi retired. We picked up root and are in the process of moving to our home in northern Wisconsin (love to snowmobile).
So, our old house is sold (6 days). That mean time to get going on the new shop. 40x56 steel building............radiant heat floors.............high ceilings.............a hoist....... and more room for all of our stuff. I now can keep it call in one place! The push is on the get the site cleared and prepped, in order to pour concrete this year Off we go! I suspect the fill is going to be a killer. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8ykkdhqn.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7pr6bwk.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...psvkzdg9bc.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...psldpzldo8.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...pspuvclh79.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...psqgg0afa9.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...psmiz0zyba.jpg |

Awesome Tim! No more laying on the ground to work under the cars! :) :worship:

I just built the exact same thing. Steel building, in-floor heat, 12 foot ceilings, got a lift. I went 60x72 and I still think I should have gone bigger!! :D

Jeezum....I don't think I'd get anything done with a view like that! Awesome! Congrats!

They got back on things here this week. I believe we got about 5" of rain, so the excavator had to pull off for a week. Looks like site prep will be done this week and should be ready for concrete towards the end of next week.

Isn't it amazing how fast those buildings go up ? We moved in Sept of '19 and had a 30X48 contracted for October. We had a month of rain then too and it got delayed until November. When the material got here, it took 2 guys 3 DAYS and it was done, except for the overhead door. CRAZY what they did in 3 days.

Thanks for posting the pictures of your shop build. Did you go with a 6" slab throughout or only where you planned to have lifts? What side wall height did you go with? Also, do you plan to treat the concrete floors with epoxy or some other coating?
Any lessons learned from the shop build that you would do differently today if starting over? |

Happy with the building for the most part, but the process left an awful lot to be desired. |
