Cool, drove by this one in my old neighborhood for years - 1st time I had ever seen the garage door up.

Do you have newer pictures of the car?
I love stage 1s! |

That's why I only opened my garage doors after dark, and had the lights off when I pulled anything in or out. Even worse now that everyone carries cameras in their pockets. |
Its funny.. I found a barn/garage find yesterday.. Sat for 41yrs on the same property.. One owner car too.. Ultra rare L78 rumored to be a non-converted Motion/Dana/Yenko/Berger/Panther/Gibb car.. Checked the fluids pumped the gas pedal and hit the key and bingo it came to life.. Even drove it down the road once.
Sorry couldnt resist.. |

Cant imagine the tank is good either. been sitting for 40 years. |
I was kidding dude.. Its my 68 L78 car (father purchased new). Haven't had it out in 6 months and thought I would enjoy it yesterday morning before people got out on the streets then back in the garage and under the cover for another extended period of time.

Crazy cameras... I built a new garage last year and I turned it 90 degrees so even with the doors up no one sees in while driving by. For several years I have taken many different routes home and even passed my road because of the people that follow the cars we all drive. They will pull in your driveway behind you to have a look or ask "how much".. Tommy |
It looks like a tow bar on the Stage 1 in the first picture. Did this car have a race history?
|
i dont think it was campaigned..but he races it now and has since he got it...i will ask him or link him to this..
mikes words...."I actually had the car in 78 I sold it in 83 and that picture is how I found it again in 86 It had been in the barn like that since the week after I sold it. No one ever drove it....I had the tow bar on it They towed it home with a Skyhawk lol" |
hello so here I am... First post and the GS is mine. Thanks for the invite Mark! I would upload more pictures but that size thing will take someone else to get them downsized.
|
Resize is easy. Right click on the picture and select EDIT. Use PAINT to edit. At the top left of the paint window there is a RESIZE button. Click on it and be sure that percentage is selected. Set the size to about 25% and click on SAVE AS. Then change the name so that you know this is the smaller size of the picture. That should be enough to let you post it here.

Cool story. Similar story, good friend of mine found a '70 Stage 1 'vert in a field in WNY around '78. Had diamond plate welded to the bottom of the fenders. #'s matching and was restored in 90's and last I heard, sits in a collection in PA.
Pics would be great! |
i'll post the pics you sent me later
|
More Kansas Krew, huh? I'm located about halfway between you guys. Back about 20 years ago, a buddy of mine traded some mud tires to a guy down by Westmoreland for a 70 Stage 1 roller. Also, there was a brown 71 Stage 1 sitting in Summerfield KS. for years but I'm not sure whatever happened to that one.
|
Saw on FB that same guy who posted up the video of that unconverted Nova another video of a "barn-find" '70 GSX Stage 1 in white. The story was that it had been sitting for 30-ish years in a garage with something like 13K miles or something.
|
theres a "story" there, theres pics that survive of the GSX sitting under a tree for years..thats not "in stotage" etc..its a well known car that people have been following for a long time..
