'66 Satellite Hemi, 9600 Mile Day 2 Time Capsule
This one has me fishing for my wallet, but fortunately for my wife, I am out of garage space....
A little rough but amazing to find something like this in 2018. Link to 1966 Hemi Satellite https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3BEAA...au/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/5EUAA...Y8/s-l1600.jpg |
Looks like it spent a lot of time at track. That single jug, drum brake M/C would scare the hell out of me

what is this car worth restored ???

what is this car worth restored ???
...IMO, less than the cost of the restoration. |

I think the best money spent on this car is in a complete mechanical overhaul. Not to be mixed up with a mechanical "resto" because people would still want to see those valve covers etc. looking exactly as they are now, when someone opens the hood.
|
I'd spend lots of time cleaning and making it mechanically sound and drive it as is......

I just noticed - Wow, it's here in Joysey! |
I would get this running and driving and clean it up.... and drive the wheels off of it!
|
Body work 25-30k easy. motor? wellllllll 10k Interior 7-8k, tires wheels 1500-2k, trim 3k what you cant see priceless another 20k neat car mopar stuff is just expensive if it was 20k it would be gone.
I am doing a 67 coronet right now like the silver bullet car back in the day I love them Hemi's!! |
IMO a concours resto is the wrong approach on this one, as some of you have said. I would graft in some patch panels, paint it, and clean the rest of it up. I think you could get everything done and avoid going into the red.
|
Weren't the '66 Hemi still solid lifters back then? i can hear that beast now.
|
I remember my friends 68 Coronet R/T and my 69 Super Bee 440/6 pak, those starters whining and at idle sounded like a coffee can full of rocks! This would be a good one to clean up,make mechanically sound, bolt on some 4.10's and slicks and go have some fun!

JeezeLouise.....I WANT that in the worst way!!!!!!:burnout: Out of the 66-67 styles, I like the Plymouths better than the Dodges. That right there should be in my shop. Problem is...no shop to have it in right now.:frown: I bet firing up that elephant through those squished headers would sound like a overweight flute player!
Cheers Dave |
Dave you would be the perfect guy for this car!
|
Growing up there has been a prostreet barracuda that was always at the local car shows and across the top of the radiator support it said Don’t fondle the elephant!
|
----Had two Hemi Satellites over the years and loved them both. They were great for cruising with buds as they had a huge interior. Tall front seat guys never even had to move the seats forward.......Bill S

Dave, from the looks of it I don't think it would hurt it to sit outside for a while. You could get your shop built and then work on this thing.
|
True.... true. I do know a little about this car since I'm in negotiations for another car and this is very similar to what I'm negotiating the negotiations on the other car for...er.... something like that.:hmmm:
Its owned right now by a flipper. No big deal, but he's a tad off on the asking price right now. I really dig it though. Mechanical resto and drive it! Cheers Dave |
No-sale and relisted for $39,500 OBO in the link below. If cars could talk!

If he's getting any offers, I'll bet they are nowhere close to $39,500....
|
Yep... and he's about $9500 higher than he bought it for too :ooo:
Cheers Dave |
Relisted at NO RESERVE! Now we're talking. Currently sitting at $15k and change.

"at one time clutch blew apart hit the ground and went up in to the floor and ended up in heater box"
LOL!!! |
What a shame. Probably had dozens of people trying to buy the car, and the goof just let it rot for 40 plus years. Weird people!
|
The low mileage on a car this condition means nothing. This is a labor of love, no profit in the future after restored.
