68 Camaro M11 bench seat floor shift T400
Does anyone have a picture of what this shifter looks like ? I've got a 68 396 / T400 car, bench seat column shift and just learned this option existed. I've never seen it before.
Thanks, |
A member PM'd me an old ebay auction for one that fortunately still had active pictures. That helps me identify the parts, I'd still love to see a picture of one installed in a car. Because, I'd consider adding one to my car if I could find one. I just want to know how odd / cheezy / goofy / cheap it looks. I did learn that it uses the 67 shifter rather than a 68 satin finish type of thing and I have plenty of those.

Any chance somebody has one they would let go of ?

Wow! That is nuts - never knew it existed.

I didn't either. That Green L-78 4 speed car that was discussed in another thread got me thinking if an automatic bench floor shift existed. I didn't think a bench 4 speed existed until I saw that car and everyone was ok with it.

Didn't someone post an Nos one of these kits here a few months back? Either a member item for sale or link to one available...maybe the eBay item mentioned above? :hmmm: ~ Pete . |
I've run through all the posts I can find and even found other references. Several people mentioned the 67 Mustang unit being identical. I compared them and they aren't even close. Unfortunately, I can't find any sale posts.

I had no idea a bench seat automatic floorshift was even an option.

Anyone seen a bench seat with 4 speed?

Look in the Supercars / Musclecars for sale section. 1/2 way down, "68 camaro SS 375 HP." That is the car that made me curious. |
Back in the 80's I couldn't figure out why my 68 RS/SS L35 had a Mustang Shifter in it.... then I bought the assembly manual... WOW bench seat, Floor Shift with TH400- Lemans Blue with Blue DLX bench, the car is in Maryland and the owner is a CRG member. I think Kurt has it in the DB. IF not I have the VIN around somewhere.
